The WDA will be looking at Brett Kelly from Bismarck Century and Christian Brown Otter from Bismarck as the top runners in the West.
Anyone else??

Brown otter and Brett Kelly will battle all year...but I think Brett Kelly will prevail.

as a matter of fact, I think he did but remember he is still only a sophmore. by the time he is a senior, maybe you would have heard about him.

i know you are wrong because i looked at the results off of the BHS XC page(http://www2.bhs.bismarck.k12.nd.us/athl ... boys08.htm) and he was not in the results.. and to be the number one runner in the state you need to be running all year long, and be somewhere in the top 20 the year before it is almost a must to become a state power.
next year's top runner will be between brownotter and kelly, I know both of these guys from other sports so there is no hatred here. Kelly has real talent and determination, but his flaw is that he would rather play soccer then run xc. Brownotter, i think, has the strength and kick that could take down kelly but i dont know what all happened at state this year if it was chris peaked early or if kelly just improved that muc hthe alst two weeks. regardless both guys are greta athletes and hopefully they will push each other.
The year after that i am going to say that alex bray or shane harlow because i know shane from track and xc and he is a good guy and works hard and those are two things a runner needs to succeed. Alex i dont really know but he has a lot of potential considering he doesnt get hurt. i know some people think waha sem could but the last two years he has been good all year and then state comes around and he is never in the top 20, granted he will only be a freshman next year but he will be up there, but it wont be till his junior or senior year.

wow, you obviously know what you are talking about. Ok I am wrong, I dont know much about cross country, I am just proud of him, and in my book, there aint nothing wrong with that. But what you explained is that the rankings at the beginning of the year depends on the last years finish, that is a neat way to start a season. Taking into account that a runner could have gotten hurt during the off season, or gained weight.

question, is there any dark horses in the cross country world. Do you think there will be any this year?
