It was in 6 innings but the way he was looking he likely would have taken down the side 1-2-3 in the 7th as well.

Dicky pulled out of their games today due to injuries/ lack of pitching, but they are gonna play tomorrow. Also after DL's early game they pulled out and didn't play Fargo because of pitching 2.

DL used 4 or 5 pitchers against GF in a 17-3 loss this morning.  Apparently some squads dont have enough pitching depth to get thru a 5 game tournament.  Maybe it should be scaled back next year.  Its not fair to the teams that were sheduled to play DL and Dickinson to have them bale out.

I think that it is Devils Lakes fault for this, they have been on a 7 day road trip, i believe they played Dickinson on tuesday, June 6th and Williston the next day, i might be wrong, but i know that they had two conferance games right before this tounament, that is just bad scheduling.

I also think that it is dumb that dickinson pulled out of there games on Saturday against West Fargo and Jamestown , but said they would play on Sunday to a lower caliber team Whapeton.

I would hope the Legion admin has some kind of slap for Dickinson. How would you like to be the opposition that traveled to play and 24 hours ahead Dickinson pulls out. Pretty weak.

By the sound of it, the east really got a raw deal out of the east-west classic.  Dickinson and devils lake only play a couple games and williston isnt even there.  The east has every team there, and only vc played a limited # of games.  Fortunately for the east, it seems that they still are getting to play the class of the west which theyll play against at state (Bismarck, Minot, Mandan).  At least those east teams are getting a little consolation out of this tourny.

I agree, the east did get a raw deal.  Even though you are low on pitching it is no reason to bail.... im sure that happens to a lot of teams over the tough grueling legion schedule of the summer.  The fact is you just have to battle through it and go with what you got.  You cant throw your best every night.

How were the teams this weekend?

Who looked good?

Im interested on how Mandan, West Fargo, Grand Forks, and Bismark looked.

Any info please explain.

Mandan:  Hit the ball well with the wood bats.  Had some defensve problems in the last game against Fargo but otherwise solid.  Pitching - threw strikes, nothing overpowering but know how to get the job done, one no hitter.

West Fargo:  Very shakey defensively from what I saw.  Bats are nothing great (no-hit).

Grand Forks:  Hit the ball very well.  Good defensively.  Spies and Potter are 2 quality pitchers.

Bismarck:  What can you say... hitters from the top to bottom of the lineup, all solid.  Very good showing this weekend Pitching staff is very deep.  Very well rounded with guys on the bench to fill in. Should be towards the top if not the top in the west and up there with fargo and grand forks state wise.

Its pretty clear Minot and Bismarck will battle in the west and GF and Fargo in the east.  Give Minot a slight edge over the other three.  Pitching matchups will be crucial in all head to head games.

Bismarck probably has the deepest pitching of all the teams.

Williston I believe.
It's a round ball and a round bat, and you got to hit it square.

I heard from my buddy that in the Mandan vs. WF game, Mandan didnt have a earned run until the last inning, and they 10 runned them.

Do you think this was just a rough day for WF or is their defense really that bad?

In the boxscores i also saw they had 5 or 6 errors against Bismark.

But against Minot they only had 1.

Maybe just a bad day?
