Best F-ball School

Watford City Gets My Vote...You just don't get a better fan following and the support the community gives football is 2nd to none, the whole town revolves around football in the fall.. And what can I say they have the legend of North Dakota coaching them in Fred Fridley, they just don't get any better than that!

Well as of the past 10 years i will have to go with Velva, they are unbelievable and just keep winning championships. And another one would be Killdeer. even though they havent won a championship in a while they are still a great football school, they win their conference pretty much every year and have excellent tradition as being a very tough team. they have a great coach in Wegner as well.

It has to be Linton..Winning titles in two different categories..Plus there always a strong team...Then Watford or Velva

My vote goes with Watford City. They been to the title game like 14 or 15 times i think and won 8 titles.

I'd say Linton strongest 9 man, Velva strongest 1A, and Watford strongest 2A.

Imdieke, Sandy, Fridley...Figure out how many state titles between those three haha.

What about the Wyndmere-Lidgerwood 9-man programs in the 1980's and 1990's?  Two state championships (87 & 92) and one runner up (82).  They also would have made a run in 93 if not for a change to 11 man.  Region 1 - 9 man football has been the cream of the crop for years.  W/L, Hankinson, PHCG, Edgeley, etc.

In the last 10 years, I would go with Trinity. They have been consistantly in the title race for a while now. Watford City is also a big one. I'd have to throw out Velva too. They are usually a tough team.

Gotta agree with you there, the hankinson and W/L rivalry back then was one of the best in the state I would say, my brother was the tight end on W/L's team and was highly recruited coming out of high school, but schools got scared off after he announced he was going to the airfoce academy.....but region 1 9-man has been and with hankinson going back down with W/L will still be one of the better regions for a while yet.....also W/L vs. Hankinson in '92, one of the best games in 9-man football ever!!!!

Going back to the olden days before 4 classes - I would have to say past and present
Fargo South - always think of Football when I hear that school name.
Cavalier, Watford City and Velva - again - same reasoning.
Linton - same reasons.

And yes - Velva was very good before Coach Sandy moved there - but he has made a HUGE difference.
Honorble Mention:
Harvey

They won a class B title in '87 and got runner up in '79, '85, '86. They have missed the playoffs twice in the past 29 years. have won over 280 games during that time and only lost 79. To me that is very good. In '98 when they went to AA they got to the semi's and got beat by Watford City and the following year got back to the Semi's to lose again to Lisbon. Next two years they would get eliminated in the first round but after that starting in 2002 they started a 47 game winning streak that was ended when they lost to Velva in the Title game. In the 2000's they won state 3 times in '02, '03, '04. To me that is a great football school.

i also feel the need to mention that coach Oksendahl was nominated for national coach of the year a few years ago. he never got it but being nominated over many many coaches in the u.s. to a select few is somethin special

They have not had their own team for several decades, but kids from Regent have been in at least 6 state championship games since 1988. Won 5, last year they were in the semi's and have been apart of numerous play-off teams with New England.

Hettinger County should be proud of all of their athletes.

Secret wish would be for a county school.

velva, cavalier, dickinson trinity, watford city have all had great teams. cavalier beats dickinson out of this one. they won 47 games in a row(most by public school) and the streak ended when they lost to velva in the 2005 class-A champsionship. velva definitely gets the A-class. cavalier AA(while they were in it). and AAA to shanley

I don't know if you simply measure by wins and losses? Adding in great coaches, stability and a great system.
I'll take Edgeley-Kulm.

Shanley was a dynasty throughout the late 60's and 70's. they even added a few in the 80's. they for sure have to be thought of as one of the best in ND history, even though their teams haven't been so good lately.

agreed, no matter what the talent they always seem to be a legit team, they have won 2 state titles one in 94 and one it 04, won their region numerous times, and they are always in the playoffs

another team you could throw in there would probly be napolean or strausberg, maybe hillsboro.

Hillsboro had many years there where they really struggle to win some games. Back when they were 11 man and then the first couple years after going 9 man.

AAA- From the west, Bismarck for sure
East: With the upcoming split of Fargo South and West Fargo needing new schools for schools that are 3 years old cause they're to small...West Fargo as the team of the future is pretty accurate I'd guess

old Shanley was legendary

oh lord, dont tell me a B school is going to be the best football team in the state, its definitely Fargo South, no one comes close to how good their program is...they were like 38th in the country two years ago, i read it in espn magazine when i was a freshman
