Babe Ruth 13-15

Babe Ruth 13-15

Postby 5-time state chump » Sun Jul 19, 2020 3:56 pm

State is in Kindred this year.

Who is looking tough from each district?

District 6 - Valley City, Lamoure. Carrington behind those two.
District 7 - Lisbon, Casselton - started about 10-10, but finished about 24-12.

Anyone got info from elsewhere?

Enderlin forfeited their games in District 7 tourney. They were down to 9 or 10 players, and then had a positive COVID test in the past few days.

Lisbon vs. Kindred and Casselton vs. Northern Cass in the winners bracket tomorrow. Absolute crap shoot on how it will play out between these 4 teams. There really is not much separation between these 4.

In District 6 Valley City #1 had to forfeit their 1st game because of a roster discrepancy. Not sure how that affects them the rest of the tournament.

From what I saw online this morning it looked like the result stood and VC is in winner’s bracket because Ashley & Steele were playing early this AM (Just saw that Steele won over Ashley)

I just saw that too, so I am not sure what happened. I know Ashley and Steele were supposed to play last night but it was postponed until this morning due to the roster issue with Valley City. I was told that the Tournament Manager determined that the roster discrepancy did not affect the outcome of the game between VC #1 and Ashley so the results of the game were allowed to stand. (No one I have talked to knows exactly what the roster discrepancy was.)

Valley city had two teams this year and used a player or players from the other team in the game against Ashley

Rugby District 2 champs

District 4 championship game winner take all tomorrow between Mayville and Thompson

District 7 Kindred in the championship game and since they are hosting state that means the loser out game tomorrow decides the District 7 state berth between Casselton and Gardner. Winner of that game plays Kindred.

Casselton got hot the last half of year but I'll go with Lamoure to win it all.

That was exactly my thought also. LaMoure has enough pitching to get thru the tournament and they are solid defensively and they hit the ball very well. Plus they have State Tournament experience.

Lamoure over Langdon 5-3 in championship of main (undefeated) bracket.

Lamoure made 2 outstanding plays in 6th and 7th in the outfield to absolutely save the game for them.

What happened in the bottom of the 5th?

Langdon has a runner on 1st and runner on 2nd. Kid at bat hits a shot over outfielders head... runner on 2nd advances to home and scores. Bringing score to 5-3.

A bit later, the score is adjusted to 5-2. Play-by-play announcer on YouTube (Magnitude Sports) says "Score is 5-3---check that--- 5-2---they've taken the run away." without any explanation. Anyone know what happened here?

Also, all games can be seen live or replayed here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCknKYI ... i7NkRCQKNg

Whoever goes undefeated in the main bracket, almost assuredly will win the title. The extra day of rest likely gives you +1 or +2 pitchers depending on what your pitch counts were day 1, 2 or 3 and the team that loses that game or the 1-loss team that emerges from the backside of the bracket, are likely -1, possibly -2 in pitchers by the time they face the undefeated team in the championship. If they manage to win game 1, game 2 is REALLY going to be hurting them in the pitching dept.

Lamoure should have this in the bag.

My guess is that he hit a wrong button as there weren't any runs taken away during that game. In fact during the mound visit the score went from 5-1 to 5-2 on his telecast.

Langdon has their day 1 and day 2 starters able to comeback for tomorrow if I remember correctly and so does LaMoure.

Kindred beat Surrey 4-1. Surrey finished 4th
Langdon beat Kindred 11-7. Kindred finished 3rd.

So the mistake was from 5-1 to 5-2, not from 5-2 to 5-3? (earlier in game)

If you start watching at 1:27:00, you'll see that he certainly scored.

That run that scored there was the second run for Langdon. If you back it up to the start of the mound visit it said 5-1. After the mound visit it was 5-2. Nothing happened during the visit and was the equivalent of a typo. On the hit as he zooms in you can pause the video and see it says 5-1 on the scoreboard.

Great Tournament. I could not believe all the people that actually attend the games. Some great players and some that just made great plays. Lamoure was the best team by far. They had experience and it showed. I believe Langdon was out of pitchers because Kindred put up 6 in the First inning and then they brought in a new pitcher that only gave up one run through the next 6 innings.
Strike zone was really tight the whole tournament which meant not very many outside or inside corners were called. I like the kids swinging the bats more for my taste. So a pitch at the knees and inch outside was a ball.... I like less walks and more action. Too many games were decided by walks.
