FWM brings back almost all of their scoring plus adds 2 tranfers. I'd add Rugby to the list of quality teams next season, also.

look out for Dakota prairie in region 4 they have almost all of their team coming back and they only had about five losses all of last year but I would still say FWM is the favorite

why do people get mad at certain teams for recruiting but when FWM does it you don't here much, seems to me they recruit the most out of any teams.

Packer21 asked he to give it a go after I boasted on my semi-accurate 18-19 predictions, so here goes:

1) I mentioned Feller and Brandt as great coaches - adding Vance from Ellendale and Ranum from Carrington - Cook from NR is also solid.
2)Wagner from Ellendale will be a good one to watch next year - good feet for a young kid.
3)The game is certainly more physical than it was 30 years ago - that trend continued this year and WILL continue.
4)After the Wahpeton 3 class plan went down 70-30%, the talk of 3 classes will cool, at least for the year.
5)HCV leads the polls but no way do they run the table with the brutal schedule they face.
6)Henningsgard/Skunberg/Klien are the leading Mr. BB candidates.
State participants:
Region 1: Richland
Region 2: HCV
Region 3: Napoleon
Region 4: FWM
Region 5: Shiloh
Region 6: Rugby
Region 7: DT
Region 8: Mandaree

Region 4 is going to be STACKED next year. Four Winds-Minnewaukan, New Rockford-Sheyenne, Dakota Prairie, St. John and Langdon/E/M should all be extremely solid.

Smith at FWM can coach a little, too. 6 state tourneys, 3 runner up, 1 title, 13 - 5 record at state. Don't forget the Native school coaches. Mentioning Cook before Smith is an insult.

Please, please I beg you, send me sincerest apologize to Coach Smith, as obviously by me mentioning Coach Cook as a solid coach, what I REALLY meant was that Coach Smith is a poor coach. Such an egregious insult on my part! If you get a chance, extend my apology to Carr, Card, Rotvold, Miller, Grinnstiener, etc.... THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Good post and I agree with 95% of it. My biggest disagreement is Napoleon coming out of Region 3.

I would pick Linton-HMB, Kidder County and Strasburg-Zeeland ahead of Napoleon-GS in District 6 and I would put EKM, LMM, Carrington and Ellendale ahead of them in the Region. As for the top team in the Region I would probably put EKM or L-HMB at the top knowing how much time they put in over the summer and the depth of EKM this year and the talent EKM had on their JV last year. (But when it comes to the Regional Tournament I would have a tough time betting against Coach Vance and his Cardinals!) How's that for covering all my bases!

I'll admit, I don't see a pile of Region 3 games. Vance knows what he's doing, no question. I watched him close at the tourney this year - impressive.

In Region 2, I don't think HCV is a lock to win it. Not sure there there is a true favorite. Thompson will match up well and Hatton-Northwood is going to be very good, fast, athletic, with balanced scoring.

Going into season, I thought Thompson was a true (I used the term overwhelming) favorite in both the region and state. Sometimes, a team just has a mix of skillsets that makes them stand out from the field. Does it mean there is no way they will get beat? Not at all. But, it is a surprise whenever the get knocked off. So, there is such thing as a clear favorite in my opinion.
