G1: #2 (5) Shiloh Christian (21-3) vs. (10) Beulah (19-4)
G2: #3 (3) Richland (21-2) vs. (RV) Powers Lake (20-5)
G3: #1 (1) Thompson (23-1) vs. Ellendale (15-10)
G4: #4 (7) Bishop Ryan (22-3) vs. #5 (9) New Rockford-Sheyenne (22-3)

1st - Thompson (too much talent for the field--easy game one should help)
2nd - Shiloh Christian (have the size, played the schedule)
3rd - New Rockford-Sheyenne (battle tested from 4 winds games)
4th - Richland (quickness keeps them in games; just a little too undisciplined & too much freelance)
5th - Bishop Ryan (get to sleep in their own beds and walk to the games if they want--guard play exceptional & will keep them in any game)
6th - Beulah (may have hard time scoring enough points in this tournament but will be competitive)
7th - Powers Lake(if they play a faster line up; they could finish higher because they play 100% better defense; too many slow guys with their starting line up. That lack of hustle & speed will kill them at state. Too hard to overcome long stretches of mismatches--it will show up big time)
8th - Ellendale (great region tournament--well coached -- just not skilled enough; might have one competitive game; pretty cool to see 15-10 team make it though & will root for them)

Was asked an interesting question yesterday and I have no clue about the answer, I know people on here will know. During the state tournament, do teams rent gyms for game day shoot arounds or practices? If the tourny is in your home town can you do this in your own gym? Or, does the NDHSAA ban this?

Team hosts set up shoot arounds at the local gyms, you can practice at your home gym.
It is a little harder to motivate kids I guess because they’ve been pampered so much. We’re in the trophy generation, give ‘em a trophy for 23rd place, make ‘em feel good. Make mom and dad feel good.” Tom Izzo, Michigan State Basketball

This is the year we haven't seen where we have four schools under median school enrollments at the state tournament. We have Powers lake ( 34); Richland (80); Ellendale (83); and New Rockford at (88). I think this has to be years since we have had more than one or two teams under 100 in high school and then Powers Lake it has been years where very small school has made the tournament but it was guaranteed this year with Mandaree in the championship with 37 in high school. It will be interesting see how many of these advance after first round one for sure will with Richland and Powers Lake playing in the opening round. I am excited to watch this year because its first time in many years where we have number of new teams. But we still have to privates and one largest class b schools in the tournament and all of these teams have been to state regularily.

The point of your post is correct, but......you are close on enrollments, except for Powers Lake. They are a very small school, but not that small.

Powers Lake - 52
Richland - 71
Ellendale - 85
New Rockford/Sheyenne - 94

Shiloh vs. Beulah - Going to be a dandy. Both have played tough schedules. Think Shiloh's size wins out. Shiloh.
Richland vs. Powers Lake - Richland is balanced and athletic. Powers Lake is big and can score. Believe Richland may have had tougher route in regionals. Richland.
Thompson vs. Ellendale - On paper looks like Thompson should win big. Coach Vance will have Cardinals ready and proved this a couple years ago. In the end, think Thompson will be too much. Thompson.
Bishop Ryan vs. New Rockford-Sheyenne - Think this will be best game of day. BR has two of best players in state. NRS is athletic as all get out. BR might struggle to hit outside shots against this good defensive team. But BR has experience on this court. Think that's the final factor. BR.

Bingo bango bongo when I posted this I used NDHSAA member school list and they showed Powers Lake with 52 in grades 7-12 so I just divided that by six and multiplied by 4 to highest number. Also all the other enrollments are NDHSAA list evidently they have different enrollment numbers than the list you have. It was best information I had at the time. I have used this list because this has to be information they use if its on their web site. Anyway this year does have largest number of small schools we have seen in the tournament.

My heart is with Powers Lake. That was my home town. I am in region 1 now and have seen Richland play a few times this year. Richland has played against lots of size all year. 6'9, 6'8,6'8, 6'8,6'7,6'7.... and they handled them all. Richland is fast and can defend as well. Powers Lake will have to slow it down and try and keep the game in the 40's or low 50's. If they try and run with them and score with them it will be along day for them. Powers Lake has experienced Kids that have played together and that means alot.
My head tells me Richland but my heart is with Powers Lake.... Go Ranchers!

I like the defensive gameplan from Powers Lake. I have heard how good Richland is on the drive and about their transition game. Pack it in and close out the lanes to make the Colts shoot them out of it.
