If I assume those three moved Stanley to the 2 spot then the 2 of the other three voters moved Stanley down 2 spots. Last week Stanley beat Ray easily and New Town, ranked #10 or 11, by 10. Maybe somebody can enlighten me on why you would move a team down 2 slots when most voters believe they are 1 or two.

Some voters must not be sold on Stanley...that's my guess; Region 8 teams don't always get the recognition, most years, as Region 8 has regularly been a 'down-region'. Just my take...

After watching the Stanley/New Town game on BEK, I would not put them #1 either. I've seen HCV, Oak Grove, and St. John play and would all put them ahead of Stanley.

was wondering about this game and how Stanley is looking....I know they lost a couple from the State Tourn team last season?

WW: I posted a comment to the previous reply but I focused on New Town. Stanley did lose a couple starters from last year but their replacements had a lot of court time last year and to me are looking better than last year. The defense is quicker and all around better. The guards have been able to stay with most guards (NT quickness gave them some trouble). The forward have been not trouble at all and the middle belongs to Kayden Hanson who has been able to stay out of foul trouble all year. As for the offense, well the Blue Jays are very balanced. Usually in years past a Mr. Basketball candidate like Wyatt Hanson would be the one you have to stop to beat them. This team has a lot of firepower with most nights having all starters in double digits. There are times when the Blue Jays have 5 players on the floor that can jam it at any time that is very unusual for any basketball team. So I guess when a team can shoot the rock from outside, have a dominate guy in the middle, can handle the press, penetrate the paint, dunk, play defense, get up and down the floor, dunk, rebound, and a Mr. Basketball candidate you have the makings of a very good basketball team. They are so fun to watch and I mentioned dunks - the Blue Jays do them all from ally-oops, windmills, off the glass, drop-step, two handed, power one handed and my personal favorite split the zone.

Interesting! I know they looked very athletic when watching them at State B last year....
so Wyatt H. has graduated?

he is a senior this year. both hansens are seniors.

The impression i get from stanley is they tend to play down to their competition. I believe they try to run offensive plays to include the whole team, but when things get close,,,wyatt hansen can just win the game for them. He took over in state last year and can do that at anytime. their schedule is soft no doubt...but they're a good team.

No, Wyatt is a senior and committed to Moorehead State next year. He is very fun to watch and is a complete ball player and should be a Mr. Basketball and Senior Athlete candidate this year. With his size, speed, quickness, ability to play above the rim, defense, rebounding he is the real deal. A great player on a very good team.

Spins: I agreed with you about Stanley's schedule being soft but then I looked at Strength of Victory for the top 11 teams: so here they are some may surprise you:

Minot Ryan 31 55 0.360465116

Grafton 47 69 0.405172414
Hillsboro-CV 44 55 0.444444444
St. John 44 54 0.448979592
Stanley 42 50 0.456521739
Richland 36 40 0.473684211

ORCS should at the very least be getting votes. Do not be surprised if they are representing region 6 in state.

Don't see that spins was talking about removing a top 10. Just that ORCS should at least be receiving votes. Myself, I wouldn't be surprised to see any of the top 4 teams from Region 6 making it to State, referring to Bishop, Bottineau, Orcs, DLB. Wild Cards, Velva, MLS and perhaps even Rugby.

ORCS has two losses to #7 & #10...so therefore I wouldn’t think they would reside in the Top 10...I, however, was shocked to not see them in RV though

but to receive votes a voter must put them in the top 10. So they must put them above a team in the top 10.

i wouldn't change the top 10, those teams have all earned it even though I have a hunch they are better than teams like Maple Valley and New Town. I would absolutely vote ORCS over Carrington (who RV)

I agree Edgar, lots of good teams in this region. I do think Ryan is a notch above everyone when they decide to play. I think ORCS is the 2nd best team in this region.

Ha right, who is better than them besides OG??

you always applaud any team that goes on a 12 game win streak to start the year, regardless of schedule or expectations coming in.....it means something is right vs something is wrong (always a good thing) W-L will give them a fit no doubt, and of course there is the home stretch to every teams season.....thats where composure comes in....

There's a team out there that's flying way under the radar. Haven't really been mentioned at all on any post that clearly should be in consideration. Surprised they haven't even been mentioned. Made state last year and are better this year

I will agree with you on maple valley.
I disagree with you on new town they are 14 and 1 against the best SOS amoung the top 10 teams and maple valley is near the bottom of all class b teams.

Let me put it this way, if they played all top 10 teams right now, i feel like they would win 3 or 4 games. Against who? Who knows???

I agree with Jack8 on this one New Town even at #9 they are one of the most under rated teams in the state. Not only is there SOS one of the best in the state but their SOVictory is also one of the highest in the state. I also cant understand how Shiloh(SC) stays in the top 10 just because you play tough teams does not mean you are a top 10 team. Their SOV is second lowest (.31) among top 10 only MV (.28) is lower. SC does have a high SOS but has lost to all the good team and does't have a win over any team with a record over .500.

Shiloh beat Trinity (9-7), Bottineau (13-2), Our Redeemer's (12-2), and Standing Rock (7-6). What am I missing here?

The data i used came from ndsportspage.com and i added missing games for three top 10 and rv so some games maybe missing most of the games mentionef i entered by hand last week maybe i ended up wirh a blank line in my spreadsheet and when I filtered it it did not showup. Sorry it was not intensional just looking at data when i made the statement.
