Medina/Pingree-Buchanan def. Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier tonight 44-43; Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier def. Carrington last week 48-43...so in regards to all this...it is ANYONE'S REGION in Region 3!

Region 3 is going to be a dogfight and MPB beat EKM without Sabinash playing? I watched on the Cube, she must've been hurt or sick? Whoever has the hot hand is going to win Region 3.

MPB has 2 losses - Lamoure 1 - heck, voters out on the west side likely have no idea that MPB beat Lamoure by double digits - they see 2 losses vs 1 and rank Lamoure higher.

That's why I trust the QRF rating over media rating. MPB is above LaMoure in that. But just like every other year the polls mean nothing.

Nothing, really. I think what Run meant is that the only thing QRF is used for in ND is for *some* football seedings in the playoffs. It's used a bit more for seedings across the river in MN.

I'm not a huge fan of polls and rankings for high school sports, in general, but I'm a coach so I'll admit a bias.

Tough questions... Region 3 is a complete tossup and I think most of the other regions also have two good teams that could probably beat each other on a given night. I think most people would pick Langdon in Region 4, but I believe FWM has just as good of shot to head to state. Should be a great game if the two meet. Rugby and DLB look to be the cream of the crop in Region 6 and Thompson and Grafton in Region 2.

My 4 most likely to make the tournament:
Shiloh, Rugby, Langdon, and Kindred (was either them or Thompson and I think region 2 has more competition)
I don't really believe any of them will be shoe-ins. Does Langdon play Four Winds before the season ends? I could see them giving Langdon some trouble.

My favorites to win the tournament:
Shiloh (Haven't seen them- going off of record)
Carrington/Edgeley/MPB/Lamoure

Girls basketball has really taken a hit these past couple years. The number of quality teams is pretty small.

1. Bismarck
2. Langdon
3. Thompson
4. Kindred
5. Rugby

4/5 were closer, I think 1-3 are virtually shoe-ins,barring a massive upset

Top 5 to win.

1. Bismarck

3. R3 winner (Edgeley, Carrington, MPB and Lamoure will all beat up on each other, and Kidder smoked Langdon in Jamestown over break). Hewitt isn't where she was before she was hurt-yet. Whoever comes out this Region will be battle tested.

She sure looked close last friday.. She has only played minimal spurts prior to Friday and in the Langdon and EKM games she had 5 steals. Carrington's press is very tough when she's in the game (even at 80%).

Being a fan from Region 8 i dont think Trenton has it wrapped up yet..they are finally playing the better teams from the district now starting tomorrow with Watford City then next week have to play both parshall and new town so if trenton can get a couple wins in the next couple weeks they are going to be the team to beat..but i wouldnt count out Parshall or New Town..yes Parshall lost to Divide and Powers Lake but that was with out the Hall sisters who are there go to girls...Parshall also has a tough schedule to end the season traveling both to trenton and new town on back to back nights next friday and saturday they also have to play watford at home on the 30th and end with stanley at home on Feb 1st and go to Bishop Ryan on Feb 3rd so if parshall can pull out some wins they are going to be a tough bunch to beat...New Town already beat Watford by 2 points and next week they go to Trenton on the 23rd and play parshall at home on the 27th so New Town can also make a run if they get on a roll

They played Tuesday. Thompson was ahead by 25+ midway through the 3rd. I think HCV could be a contender. Thompson obviously the favorite.

Is it me or is girls basketball level of competition down overall in the state. The exception being region 3 where we have three or four teams that are highly competitive. I look at region 4 level of competition has dropped from where it was just in last few years. Just from four years ago we had 3 or four teams that had chance to win and go to state. Region 2 looks the same way with Thompson being very competitive with only Grafton showing signs of maybe being able to play with them. Here again we had at least 3 or 4 teams in past that could have won this region. Reading on the sight it seems to be common thing in other region except for region 3. So what's going on is this just natural decline in overall talent or is something else happening to where we don't have level of competition we had in the past where we have competitive regions. It also appears to me that there are way more blow outs of games were not seeing where we have competitive games like we had in the past. The number of games with 20 plus victories is becoming more the norm than where we had games with single point losses.

Did Langdon have a bad day? Have girls out/sick? Or did MPB really hand it to them? I understand MPB and region 3 is pretty tough, but was not expecting that blowout.

Was at the game. They handed it to them. Inside game of MPB was unstoppable. No answer for the 3 bigs. Held Ronnigen to Zero Points
