Less teams then the 1st GBB poll...most teams haven't played yet so it's hard to place anybody anywhere with nothing to compare to. The first poll is usually guided by the Hoopsters Top 24 or 40 ranking.

Well to start things off first pool one the girls side had about 30 teams on it, and then this one has teams that are no where close to a top team in the the state. It has teams that lost in the Region Champ and who return pretty much everyone RV or ranked 7! The fact that St. John is ranked 7 is hilarious! Get out and watch some more games, wait until a couple more weeks to put out a poll, or at the very least spend some time looking at who is coming back. Don't just randomly throw out a RV to anyone ole team.

I love when people get so bent out of shape over a Poll. Just like in FB or GBB...the first couple of polls are all over the place. Games are won on the court NOT by a poll on paper! Relax...polls are a group of people's opinions; if you disagree with the 'group' then explain why because every opinion helps to formulate the future polls. The boys 1st Poll was a better grouping of teams then the girls (IMO).

I am well aware of how games are won or lost. I gave my opinion and was asked to respond and I did, I am hardly bent out of shape over a poll. Thanks for the the input Aaron Rodgers.

I actually think this poll isn't that far off - Ryan might be a bit high - I'm surprised to see Hatton-Northwood get votes - besides that not much I'd change - its early, pollsters are shooting from the hip at this point.

I love the debate, I like being able to come on here and talk about some basketball. I know it only takes one vote for someone to get a RV, but still. It isn't that bad of a top 10, personally mine is different was more surprised with the RV list.

Minot Ryan In definitely a top five team in the state in my opinion. Shiloh at 2 seems to be a little high but we will see. Don’t know how Watford can receive votes when they lost to Hazen by 20 though, unless they voted before this game took place?

HCV could play Stanley this Friday and the game could go into overtime with an HCV win (who knows).....might not even change Stanleys rank in Poll #2
Grafton could beat Beulah next Monday if they had decided to play....then back to the voting and wall-a! somebody moved up or down........

Polls are like a life ...they/it don't/doesn't always sort-themselves/itself-out......

I don't understand what this has to do with anything? The people who vote for the poll pick who they feel are the top 10 teams in the state. I would say none of them have seen every team play that they vote for. Polls are fun conversation starters but that's about the end of it.

Agreed 100% and that’s what we are doing isn’t it? Starting conversation about what we think about it and what we feel they got right and wrong. No one is right just fun to discuss!

I may have went overboard a bit :) ....but the scenarios I through out were examples of how it can and has went in the past or lets say since the beginning of time when it comes to polls in ND Class B Boys Basketball... polls are simply polls

I will say that they do usually get very close to reality as the season progresses but then like others have stated "you still have to play the game"

Ironically I say that this years 9-man football poll was spot on the last 5 polls and then #2 beat #1 when they met.....

I think the early season polls usually have likely candidates that will be one of the top teams in the state. I believe not until we get into middle of January we get pretty good feel who the top teams are. Then I would like to say that at the end of the season we may have several teams that had several losses but because they were young team in the beginning it has taken them some time to jell but are becoming very good team. Also being rated in top ten doesn't mean much at the end of season because it may all come down to how you strong you are in your region. We have had where one region may have multiple rated teams but only one team is going to reach the state tournament. This brings to another thing about the polls I believe certain regions will always be represented more in the polls because being closer to the media than other regions. In the end final poll is the state tournament.

St. John deserves to be in the poll...I thought all in Top 10 were worthy and could see the case for all RV teams. This week's poll will be interesting as there were some good matchups already

Agreed packers. St John will be very tough to beat by anyone in the state. McGillis is in my opinion the best player in the state.. and Prouty is very tough too. Barring a slip up they should be in the state where people can see how much of a travesty it was that Kyler McGillis was not an all stater last year.
