Region 1 I'll say Oak Grove will play Maple Valley in the title game.
Region 2- I'll say Thompson will play Hatton-Northwood in the title game.

From what I've heard from people it sounds like Oak Grove and Thompson are the odds on favorites. I think this is the year that Thompson breaks through and makes the state tournament.

I just don't see MV finishing 5th, knowing people in the community this has been the team they have been talking about since the 2011-12 season when they lost to CC in the region semi-finals(still one of the best basketball games I've ever attended) my prediction of Tri-State might be a little high but they will surprise teams don't be surprised if they take a team like OG MV or Richland to the wire in the region tournament.

I think PRFL could be the sleeper in Region2. They'll definitely have the size and speed, but they'll have a short bench.

The only prediction I have at this time based on talent is that Minto will be in the mix

You say this every year. MM might be in the mix based on TALENT, but the reason they are always competitive is their coach.
It is a little harder to motivate kids I guess because they’ve been pampered so much. We’re in the trophy generation, give ‘em a trophy for 23rd place, make ‘em feel good. Make mom and dad feel good.” Tom Izzo, Michigan State Basketball

So, you are saying that you can have a talented team but a great coach is what makes the real difference. I'll agree with that. I've seen some teams where the talent sure makes the coach look good.

I agree packers21

the 16-17 season spelled out fairly obvious for most I believe, HCV vs Thompson wasn't a shocker and
with the older Schwabe on the floor there wasn't going to be a winner till the Horn sounded at the end of the game....Hats off once again to HCV bringing home the Iron from Minot...

In reference to just Region 2 and to this coming season, I foresee nothing obvious, In fact, foresight to the end is merely just a shot in the dark compared to the last five years in Region 2 IMO.........Region 2 will be the toughest Region in the State I believe this coming season.......and I didn't say the most competitive.....but across the board the toughest.......
If you can’t excel with talent, triumph with effort.

If only Midway-Minto and Park River could get some good coaches they would win all the state titles. It's sad they would always be in the same region though.

Amen to that, Ive coached these kids for the last eight years and I don't say this but there are not many teams that can go down there whole bench and not miss a beat. This can beat anybody they have proven it over the years at all leavels but when they get to varisity they don't get over the hump. It takes aleader to lead them. But anyway this is the best talent they have had in years.

Com'on man you can't really believe all this BS you just spit. Using Elementary and JH comparisons are completely illogical, so much can happen from those ages to Varsity. It's fine if you don't personally like the coach, but to come on a forum and to bash one of the more respected coaches in the Region/State is almost comical and you do it every single year. Plus you completely contradict yourself on the girls forum, losing all of you credibility anyways.

Who coaches at PRFL now? I've always felt Robinson was one of the better coaches in region 2. Success at the elementary/JH level does not necessarily equate to varsity success. Are kids being taught fundamentals? Does the program retain kids? Is the youth coach only coaching to win - playing the same 5-6 kids and not developing the others, essentially running them out of the program?

In watching a lot of region 2 bball the last several years, I've never once thought at PRFL or MM was out coached or failed to win the region due to lack of coaching.

I don't think many people have thought that. Seth Kuchar is the head in PRFL they get their best player back from injury this year (Skauvhaug). Omdahl did a very good job before him.
