Region 7 this year will be a "pick them out of a hat" type year. On paper Killdeer probably has the most talent, if they mesh together they will be a very tough out. Glen-Ullin/Hebron has the state tournament experience on their side, their Achilles heal could be their lack of depth, to beat them you have to shoot the ball well. Bowman lost their pg last year, but they have a lot of talent returning, a lot of size. Hettinger Scranton is the wild card in this group. They were a banked in "3" away from possibly going to state. Kludt is one of the best players in the region, she makes everyone around her better. They have some shooting and some size to go along with her. They're my pick to win region 7

Ryan doesn't have the Stewart's anymore. I would say that Rugby is team to beat in that region. Rugby will be well balanced with lots of experience coming back.
I still wouldn't count out Ryan. They have a Passa kid that will turn heads this year with some strong young talent to mix in with Harmon and Rovik.

I'm not sure what Kindred is doing so high on the list. I'm not sure that they are a top 40 team, let alone a top 4 team. Not only do they have a new coach, but very few girls back that were impact players. They only thing that I think can explain them being picked in the top 20-25 is a really good run the last few years. They also have had a very good run in volleyball the last few years. But, those girls are gone and they are now 2nd from the bottom in region volleyball in the win column. The last place teams only victory came against Kindred. I'm not trying to bash Kindred, but this ranking doesn't make any sense to me.

Their JV was pretty good last year...Region 1's rankings here kind of have me baffled.

Kindred will still be a decent team. Volleyball & Basketball are different sports...sometimes there are correlations between the two but not always.

My Region 3 prediction:
1. Carrington- Fast team, year after year plays some of the best defense in the state
2. EKM- Believe it will be them and MPB in a regional semi final- EKM has the better big girl
3. LLM- Anna Holen
4. MPB- returns most of their team, not fast enough to keep up with Carrington and LLM

Hoopster felt bad for not picking Kindred to win their region last year.

i think Region 8 is going to be between 5 teams in my opinion
1. Watford City-always have a good team plus return a couple starters off there state team lots of speed but losing Sparby will hurt them at first
2. New Town-Losing scorer Marveen Ross will hurt but they still have Brady, Tveter and Fox back if i remember right plus a good underclass very fast
3. Trenton-Very young team last year return 2nd team all stater Kaity Hove she is a non stop engine plus the two St Pierre played well as 8th graders.
4. Powers Lake-Losing Honrud is big but they still bring back the big post player in Titus plus a couple guards that were Ok
5. Parshall-Losing Severance and Tveter will hurt but they return younger Severance sister Shadlynn Sidney and Ashly Hall also they have 3kids that played and scored alot on the JV that will definitely help out they are 8th Graders Wynter Deane and Jayln Hall and Freshman Cedar Hall

if i had to choose id say Watford cause they have more experience

But not bc of their TALENT?
It is a little harder to motivate kids I guess because they’ve been pampered so much. We’re in the trophy generation, give ‘em a trophy for 23rd place, make ‘em feel good. Make mom and dad feel good.” Tom Izzo, Michigan State Basketball

They have an athletic group of freshman coming in that are probably the best players on the team once they get their feet underneath them. Mix that with a group of seniors that have had big or small roles on varsity since their freshman year and an old coach that wasn't very good at controlling big personalities, a lot of fans thought this was going to be a scary or disappointing year. Now Zikmund might be able to give this team some direction and have a team that can be in the race at the end of the season.
