Also ranked some based on where they will be at when playoff time rolls around, not necessarily where they are at right now. With all that said Here are my top teams in the state
East
1- Thompson
2-Cavalier
3- Wyndmare-Lidgerwood
4- Linton
5- New Rockford

West
1- St. John's
2- New Salem
3- Shiloh
4- Mott
5- North Prairie

Unless Cavalier gets beat this week to St John-- I dont think they will fall under the 1 spot.

They will have their chance to prove it on the field in a couple weeks against Thompson. I think a couple other teams would disagree with you.

If they would have everyone healthy from the get go, Cavalier would be hands down the best team. Unfortunately, that will not be the case. I don't know how many teams could lose 3 all-state caliber players like they have and still be in contention for a state title, let alone 9-man team. It is what it is though. They won't make any excuses if they don't get it done, even though they probably could. I haven't seen a team ever get hit by the injury bug like they have this year.

Why is that such a shock. They are defending state champs and lost to the number one team by only four points.

Everyone gets a little too hung up on these polls. Fun to talk about but in the end are really meaningless. Still gotta play the games in the playoffs.

I know polls are just for talk and the games will be settled on the field, but as far as this poll, do you get 5 pts. for #1, 4 for #2, 3 for #3 etc. If that is the case, it is kinda crazy that you have 9 people voting Cavalier #1, 2 for Wyndmere-Lidgerwood, 2 for Shiloh and 2 for Thompson. So Cavalier only got 15 pts total from 6 other voters and are tied for the top spot in total pts. with W-L but the pick for #1 was 9 to 2. In all the years I have watched polls I don't think I have ever seen such a discrepancy in opinions on a team that has beaten another top 5 team. Quite a few must think they are way overrated or just don't like them. They got roasted for pulling the dogs off on Larimore when up 32-0 in the 1st quarter while Wyndmere-Lidgerwood and Thompson both struggled in games last week but went up in the polls. Thompson was behind MayPort at the half and Wyndmere was up a touchdown late in the third against Hankinson. I know a win is a win and am not promoting running up the score on inferior teams. You know what is crazy, I looked at the brackets for state playoffs and there is a good possibility Cavalier will play either Thompson or Wyndmere-Lidgerwood in the round of 16. In my opinion, one really good team will be ending their season way earlier than they probably deserve too. I guess that's why they play the games.

WDAY did up a nice piece on the Sports last night (same day current poll came out) on a couple players from W-L who are looking at the National Guard, I believe........I thought it was a good piece and very well deserved :) ......I did catch right at the end of the cast they mentioned W-L "was rated first in the State 9 man"

It's hard to tell how good teams are when it seems they don't play any one. The only talented team cavalier played was Thompson and won by four. There seems to be only three talented teams in the west next Friday we have great matchup ins Shilo and NS. Wyndmere plays Thompson that will tell a lot. How good is region three teams. We'll find out come playoff time as they've all played each other in hard fought games with Napoleon coming out undefeated.

Yes, two of WL top players did join the NG before school started so both missed practices and then had to sit out the first game. Very proud of their decision.

Congrats to these 2 fine young men! This is just another reason that football played on Friday night is much more important and pertinent to the American way of life than anything that occurs in NFL stadiums. I couldn’t be prouder to call myself a North Dakotan, or be more thankful of the way of life that we are blessed with !

I think it is ridiculous to say WL is the best in the east by far. I think they are the best team in the state, but they only beat Thompson by 9. In 9 man football a nine point game is a good contest. If they were by far the best team they wouldn't have had a game within 24 points imo.
