EEK (game of the week...two very talented RBs. Predicting a high scoring game. Grueneich had 330 yards & 4 TDs against Carrington & Hoggarth 3 TDs against Oakes). should be a good one.
MNS
Northern Cass (but a Carrington upset wouldn't surprise me...they played a nice first half against EEK & are still tough)
Larimore
Langdon
Lakota E DP
BR
Des Lacs Burlington
Velva Sawyer
Hazen
Killdeer
Southern McLean

So who's got the skinny on Langdon? They're 4-0 and will probably be ranked this week, but the teams they've beat are a combined 5-11, with Northern Cass being the only team with a winning record. I'm not sold on them yet but that could change with a convincing win over Park River. The Aggies are a better team than the one who played Larimore and will get back up for a huge Region 2 game. Thoughts?

I agree...not 100% sold on Langdon...especially after narrowly beating Rugby last week (who is down this year). This week's poll will be crazy-interesting with Larimore & Bishop Ryan dominating their ranked foes last week...those two should be #1 & #2 for sure. The question that remains is how far down does PR & V/S fall? Hazen & Killdeer will likely gain some steam and move up in the poll and then you have bubble teams that could muster some votes (Ellendale/Edgeley-Kulm, Oak Grove, Northern Cass, Des Lacs-Burlington, Langdon, Harvey-Wells County & L&C/Our Redeemer's)

Friday, September 23rd
Ellendale/Edgeley-Kulm (1-0; 3-1) @ Oak Grove (1-0; 3-1) Think this could be one of the best games of the week. E-EK gets a statement win here.

Milnor-North Sargent (0-1; 2-2) @ Oakes (0-1; 0-4) These two teams are very familiar with each other so that might help Oakes but I think its probably going to get ugly. I think its going to be a very long season for Oakes, with better times to come in a few years.

Carrington (0-1; 1-3) @ Northern Cass (1-0; 3-1) This game could be interesting as I don't think Carrington is as bad as is being rumored but I still think Northern Cass is a better team.

Harvey-Wells County (1-0; 3-1) @ Larimore (1-0; 4-0) This game will be interesting as Larimore is coming off a huge win so there is the potential for some hangover/over confidence. The senior dominated team should be able to avoid that however, so I will take Larimore.

Park River-FL (0-1; 3-1) @ Langdon (1-0; 4-0) It will be interesting to see how Park River-FL handles that bad loss, either they will fix things and straighten out or crumble. Langdon is a really solid team who will be looking to prove something against a team they have struggled against lately. I think they have the opportunity to take advantage of an injured Aggies team, but am not prepared to bet against Park River yet.

Lakota/Edmore/Dakota Prairie (0-1; 0-4) @ Rugby (0-1; 0-4) I will take Lakota as I still think they have a lot more talent than they have shown to this point.

Lewis & Clark/Our Redeemer's (1-0; 3-1) @ Bishop Ryan (1-0; 4-0)
Des Lacs-Burlington (1-0; 3-1) @ Bottineau (0-1; 1-3)
Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn (0-1; 1-3) @ Velva/Sawyer (0-1; 3-1)
Hazen (1-0; 3-1) @ Standing Rock (0-1; 0-3)
Heart River (1-0; 1-3) @ Killdeer (1-0; 3-1)
Southern McLean (0-1; 0-4) @ Garrison-Max (0-1; 0-4)

Ellendale/Edgeley-Kulm (1-0; 3-1) @ Oak Grove (1-0; 3-1) Not as close as people think.
Milnor-North Sargent (0-1; 2-2) @ Oakes (0-1; 0-4) M-NS needs this to get healthy
Carrington (0-1; 1-3) @ Northern Cass (1-0; 3-1) Upset pick, I think NC came out of Fridays win a little beat up (Key Players) Could be a shocker.

Harvey-Wells County (1-0; 3-1) @ Larimore (1-0; 4-0) Also not as close as people think
Park River-FL (0-1; 3-1) @ Langdon (1-0; 4-0) Tough to go against the Aggies but they still need to decide who they are.
Lakota/Edmore/Dakota Prairie (0-1; 0-4) @ Rugby (0-1; 0-4) More athletic but still close

Lewis & Clark/Our Redeemer's (1-0; 3-1) @ Bishop Ryan (1-0; 4-0) Could be game of the week.
Des Lacs-Burlington (1-0; 3-1) @ Bottineau (0-1; 1-3) Not close
Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn (0-1; 1-3) @ Velva/Sawyer (0-1; 3-1) Closer than people expect

Hazen (1-0; 3-1) @ Standing Rock (0-1; 0-3) Snoozer
Heart River (1-0; 1-3) @ Killdeer (1-0; 3-1) Snoozer
Southern McLean (0-1; 0-4) @ Garrison-Max (0-1; 0-4) Battle for the basement

My picks for week 5

Region 1 - EEK, M-NS, Northern Cass
Region 2 - H-WC, Park River-FL, Rugby
Region 3 - Minot Ryan, DL-B, Velva-Sawyer,
Region 4 - Hazen, Killdeer, Southern McLean

I know Harvey probably won't beat Larimore but they will beat Langdon the following week.

Friday, September 23rd
Ellendale/Edgeley-Kulm (1-0; 3-1) @ Oak Grove (1-0; 3-1)
Could potentially be a shootout. Would be a fun game to get to.
Milnor-North Sargent (0-1; 2-2) @ Oakes (0-1; 0-4)
M-NS is a solid football team.
Carrington (0-1; 1-3) @ Northern Cass (1-0; 3-1)
Northern Cass will look to keeping their season hot.

Harvey-Wells County (1-0; 3-1) @ Larimore (1-0; 4-0)
Larimore is too tough.
Park River-FL (0-1; 3-1) @ Langdon (1-0; 4-0)
I think PRFL will come out looking to make a statement after last weeks embarrassment against Larimore
Lakota/Edmore/Dakota Prairie (0-1; 0-4) @ Rugby (0-1; 0-4)
Rugby will win to stay out of the bottom of the barrel.

Lewis & Clark/Our Redeemer's (1-0; 3-1) @ Bishop Ryan (1-0; 4-0)
Game shouldn't be close. Ryan is tough this year.
Des Lacs-Burlington (1-0; 3-1) @ Bottineau (0-1; 1-3)
DLB out athletes anybody they match-up against.
Westhope-Newburg-Glenburn (0-1; 1-3) @ Velva/Sawyer (0-1; 3-1)
Should be the closest game this week for region 3.
Hazen (1-0; 3-1) @ Standing Rock (0-1; 0-3)
Wyatt Carr might play the first half, but odds are against it. I would say he sits majority of it to prevent injury.
Heart River (1-0; 1-3) @ Killdeer (1-0; 3-1)
Shouldn't be close. Jepson should have about 200 yd. rushing
Southern McLean (0-1; 0-4) @ Garrison-Max (0-1; 0-4)
Could go either way. Both teams lack athletes.

winners&losers,
at first glace I do agree with your picks. However, I do question a couple of your comments after games. the first being...

"DLB out athletes anybody they match-up against". I question if they have better athletes than either Killdeer who beat them by 2 scores, 25-12 or a down/winless Stanley/Powers that DLB beat by a single score, 33-26.

the second...

"Wyatt Carr might play the first half, but odds are against it. I would say he sits majority of it to prevent injury." I don't disagree with him sitting a good chunk of the game. I probably would if I was his coach. But, there is someone on here, who likely correctly, said that Wyatt had 13 rushing td's in the last two games. That would be back to back games against poor competition that he was left in the game for a decent chunk of it. I'm not going to say it is right or wrong. But, I do think that it is a pattern and most patterns continue.

I get what you're saying about Carr, and he probably will get his carries and scores! That's just the way I would play it, because if he gets hurt, they might not be able to beat a junior high team. (I know someone will have a fuss about that one)

Would that be a AA or A junior high team?

EEK overcomes a 2 TD deficit in the 2nd half to beat a very tough Oak Grove squad. Extremely impressed with the Grovers. That is a completely different team than what we saw last year. Thunder players and coaching staff did a tremendous job battling back.

PRFL secondary could do nothing to stop Langdon passing attack. 3oo+ yards I believe. I remember watching PRFL and Langdon last year, I was thinking Langdon is going to be good in a couple years. Guess it didn't take that long. I think they only have one or two seniors this year. A real possibility that PRFL doesn't make the playoffs this year.

You aren't kidding...I predicted this to be a close, high scoring game. EEK changed up the offense and has a good balance of talented players. They clearly were gunning for Grueneich and I thought EEK adjusted well. He didn't have nearly the touches he usually does & got to play some other key spots. Nice sack with #85 to end he game. Impressed with Peterson (44). Hardworking kid with some nice runs and big hits.

Hoggarth is tough. Up to the half, I wasn't sure EEK had an answers for them. Some huge defensive stops sealed it up. OG played a great game. They will be a force next year as well.

PRFL is still fighting the injury bug. Until they get some key players back, they can't afford to loose anymore games if they want to make the playoffs. The Aggies showed signs of potential, but they can't expect to win games when they drop so many easy passes and show a lack of effort in the secondary. PRFL's plays are too predictable. They worked for the last 2 years, but not for this years team. A person also has to wonder how long Jackson Hankey can carry this team. Hankey's not doing a bad job at QB, but I feel he would be more effective in the backfield. The Aggies will occasionally put their backup QB in putting Hankey in the backfield, but I can't figure out why they don't do this for more than a couple plays. They can't continue doing the same thing and expecting something to change. Langdon played hard, but I want to believe that if they were to meet up again that the outcome would be different.

If Park River makes the playoffs will depend on how they will do against Harvey. I believe it will come down to those two to make the final playoff spot. I think Park river is better than Lakota-Edmore/DP should beat them. Harvey still has a game against Langdon which if they won out would put them number 2 in the region and if they loose to Langdon then for them to make the playoffs coming down to them beating Park River. I just don't see Lakota or Rugby beating anybody else in the region this year I may be wrong but I just see it that way. If I were to put way the teams stand now I think that Larimore finishes 1 and Langdon finishes 2 and Harvey making the the third spot. I just think Park River is like a team that has injuries and are out sink and time is running out on them. But maybe they can put it together yet.
