FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State University head women's track & field and cross country coach Stevie Keller announced the addition of nine student-athletes to the 2016 class on Monday, Apr. 18.

Katie Bye, a mid-distance runner from Fargo, N.D.; Jocelyn Dinius, a multi-event athlete from Langdon, N.D.; Josie French, a sprinter from Rosemount, Minn.; Grace Gannon, a distance runner from Bismarck, N.D.; Morgan Gietzen, a pole vaulter from Bismarck, N.D.; Paige Harris, a sprinter from Plentywood, Mont.; Melina Kuerschner, a distance runner from Edmonton, Alberta; Tara Smart, a sprinter from Glenview, Ill.; and Johanna Weber, a distance runner from Savage, Minn., will continue their education and compete at NDSU.

Bye (Davies HS) was the North Dakota Class A state champion in the 800m as a junior in 2015, running 2:17.26. She also took sixth in the 400m dash and ran on the Davies HS 4x800m relay team that earned a runner-up finish. As a sophomore in 2014, Bye finished seventh in the 400m, and she was the state runner-up in the 1600m as a freshman in 2013. In cross country, Bye owns three top-10 finishes at the North Dakota state meet.

Dinius (Langdon Area HS) placed second in the 100m hurdles and fourth in the pole vault at the North Dakota Class B state meet as a junior in 2015. As a sophomore, she was the state runner-up in the 100m dash and pole vault. Dinius is also a multiple-time state placewinner in the 200m and 400m.

Gannon (Bismarck HS) has finished in the top 15 at the North Dakota Class A state cross country meet in each of the past five seasons, including a seventh-place finish as a senior in 2015. She has also been a state meet qualifier in the 1600m and 3200m in track for each of the past three seasons.

Gietzen (Century HS) has earned North Dakota Class A state runner-up honors in the pole vault in each of the last two seasons, clearing 11-3 both years. She is also a state meet qualifier as a diver.
