Do these voters do any actual research, or do they just wake up on Saturday morning and check the scores in their local papers ?

Its voted on by the media who report the scores...not sure your gripe but the AA poll looks pretty solid.

I don't see where the forfeit had any bearing on the poll.

It was a change that was to be made after being told on Friday of VC's forfeit to Lisbon (Ineligible Player Used)

Valley City used an ineligible player in their 42-0 win over Lisbon...therefore, Lisbon gets credit for a 17-0 win (maximum used for tiebreak procedure) over Valley City. That's all that needs to be reported for details.

So the change hasn't been made yet? Cuz VC is still #2.

Also...if VC moves down due fo this (I know polls don't mean squat).....that's ridiculous.

The change was made to the record in the poll (and the records/stats topic)...they weren't going to lose their ranking when the polls come out on Tuesdays (Wednesday this week b/c of holiday) and the forfeit became public knowledge on Friday afternoon.

My gripe is voters that pay no attention to the level of competition this season, but always vote for the teams based upon past performance or, reputation. Big city bias ?

IMO...

1.) Once a team is at a certain number in a poll, they have to do something to lose that spot. "Only" winning by 8 points or "only" beating a a poor team, shouldn't move you down.

2.) Polls? So what? What does it change? What does it mean? What good are they? You don't make the playoffs based on the polls. You make it based on your record. If you are #1 or #2 in the poll because you got "big city bias", it will show in the playoffs when you lose to the #4 seed, etc. If you are much better than the poll "gives you credit for",it will show in the playoffs when you win your games.

The poll affects nothing. ZERO. ZILCH.

And what team are you thinking should be higher or lower? You obviously have a team or teams in your head that you suspect should be somewhere else in the poll instead of what they are.

some people don't always vote each week. Its a pretty solid poll if you get 12+ to vote each week.

The poll is very solid. My question is, if you are entrusted with a vote, why not express your opinion ? IMO

Valley City is playing well this year it seems. Im curious on that Beulah / Valley City match-up??? Can they give Beulah a game. Looks as though Valley has a solid bunch.

Any of those top 5 can beat each other. Looking at scores vs common opponents, the top 5 seem to all be "in the same league".

VC beat Wahp in OT (Wahp's only loss)
St. Mary's beat Shanley by a TD (Shanley's only loss)
Beulah beat St. Marys by a TD (St. Mary's only loss)

Beulah at Valley City next week...thoughts and predictions? Haven't seen Beulah this year but I know they're always tough. Valley seems to air it out more this year with the addition of a wide receiver. Should be a classic.
