Count me in! I'm ready for the smell of green grass, watching grueling events, and being around stud athletes! Walk into the bowl at Bismarck for the state track meet and you are in the presence of the states best athletes, bar none. Okay, the regional qualifiers (by place) meant to fill the outside lanes at state, could be another debate Track is the only true sport where you rely on noone and your talents cannot be marginalized to accomodate the marginal. Kids are able to measure themselves by the rest of the best in the field and state. Heres to stackin' up the plaques!!!

States best athletes? Takes a lot of talent to huck a shot put and run around a track. Not knocking what they do but far from the states best athletes.

Hmmmmm, hockey nut. What was I thinking. It was so stupid of me to think of all of the three sport studs like 3 sport stud and NDSU tight end Jeff illlies, NDSU Bison starting right ackle Jack Plankers hucking a shot for a championship, All pac-10 800M runner Laura Roesler, etc. etc. My bad as I am almost certain that it has something to do with hitting something with a stick! What was I thinking!

Where did I make a reference about hockey? heck I myself ran track back in high school. It was something to do to stay in shape. Oh and there is a little more involved in hockey than hitting something with a stick. Again nothing against track. Athletes yes but not the greatest.
hockeynut wrote:Got ya. Being a hockey guy, I know shocking given my name, I know plenty of 3 star hockey, golf, and baseball guys. I will give you this as far as 3 sport athletes who did track. I coached probably one of the best all around athletes this state has had, Darin Erstad. Guy could of been a D1 hockey player along with his D1 football and baseball accomplishments. I believe he still holds a few track records at JHS.

Alrighty then! We are finally on the same page. Not all 3 sporters/stud athletes are tracksters. I wasnt trying to omit anyone in the first place. Guys like Bachmeir of last year being all state FB, BB, and winning state track titles is the kind of athletes I was referring to. By the way, isn't golf like hitting something with a stick? Just kiddin'

Golf and hockey have always gone hand in hand. Must be that stick thing.

Great. Thanks.
Wow ...you must not know much about track & field. To be more specific, the field events. My son is a 4 sport athlete(basketball, football, track and baseball in the summer) and he will tell you that it takes a way different skill set to do the high jump than it does with any other sport. These athletes have the ability to jump 5- 6 feet high in the air and the agility/muscle control to twist their bodies over a bar in a way that doesn't knock it down....I'm not sure how many athletes in the state can do that! In track, you are judged on your talent and only your talent, you don't have teammates to help make you look or be better. By the way, you don't have to be a 3 sport athlete to be one of the state's best!hockeynut wrote:BigCat wrote:outlawcarot wrote:Who is ready for some track to start!?
