I'm from Grafton and it surprises me that they were given that many first place votes. I realize it's early, and they are the defending champs, but for them to get 8 votes seems awfully generous. Who are the voters in this poll?

I agree...I was also a little shocked on that.

To answer your question: "The polls are conducted by the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association."

Class AA has some great teams and no pushovers that I can see. Anybody can beat anybody from night to night. I would not be surprised to see 3 or 4 different teams getting rated each week.

Any of these teams can come up from the bottom and surprise all of us. Look at Turtle Mountain Last year. They beat Trinity for the first time ever, and Trinity beat Beulah and Beulah beat Turtle Mountain, its just up to the players to do there jobs. So anyone can be great. This is a good divison

WOW - I was also surprised to see Grafton in the number 1 spot - I would move everyone up and put Grafton at 5 or 6. They do have a solid program but lost a lot. Should be a fun year and anyone can beat anyone. My guess is there will be a lot of 3 or 4-loss teams after they all play each other.

Injuries play a huge roll on a team's success throughout the season as well. If a team can stay healthy, they will will have a good season.

Its how this poll always seems to work, defending state champ being given some respect until it loses. After next weeks games it will be interesting to see where everyone is at. jmo

Kindred and VC should move into the poll this week, Ryan down and Trinity out.

Well in the Minot paper the coach for Ryan said they kicked Kindreds butt the whole game except for a couple plays.....
Sounded like it was a hard fought game with both teams hitting each other with all they had. Ryan aired it out and moved the ball in the second half but Kindred's QB just is to fast and to hard to tackle and they have a team that does not quit blocking for him until he is standing in the end zone.

My guess is that Kindred should crack the top 5 as well as VC.

It'll probably look similar to this:

1. Grafton
2. Fargo Shanley
3. Beulah
4. Carrington
5. Wahpeton or Kindred
RV: Wahpeton or Kindred, VC, Botno

According to the paper, the yards were 325 for Ryan and 249 for Kindred. Kindred had two huge plays on special teams with a blocked punt giving them the ball at Ryan's 10 and Bachmeier running back a kick.
