i'm pretty sure that he didn't have 26 errors going into state...do u really think he'd be all state if he had that many errors?

Leer, best all around ss in the state.  Solid bat and glove.

I heard this from the dad in the stands who keeps the book so i think i will believe him and he didnt think his son was awsome he jus said hes out there somwhere and why would he bother lying about that it has nothing to do with his son hes an outfeilder and this is the shortstop

A dad keeping book is not the official book though too.  Some people in the stands will give errors on plays that are very tough and that it would be impossible to throw them out on...I saw john make a number of plays this year where he had to try throw the ball on the run or dive to his right to knock the ball down and because the throw wasn't there on time, they'd give him an error on the scoreboard.

Also, i don't necissarily mean that he is the best defensive shortstop in the state either...The past 2 seasons he's hit well over .400 and was a good leader in the field for the knights...It's debatable, but i still say that he is one of the best shortstops in the state.

no i've heard, seen, and played against andy leer...but i don't consider anyone in the state "poetry in motion" at shortstop...this is all opinion stuff that we're talking about here and my opinion is that greciar is one of the best overall shortstops in the state...i'm not taking anything away from leer, he's a very good player but there are a lot of debatable best shortstops that are overall good players

Andy Leer is the best shortstop in the state i mean u have a better chance  getting to 1st striking out and hoping the catcher drops the ball then picks it up and makes a bad throw to 1st then to hit a ground ball to leer and the kid hits the sweet out of the ball i guess he did get state player of the year too

Once again it's an opinion that your saying right now...Everyone else in here has been puting basically all west players on the best at each postion categories so i thought i would throw some names out there from the east as well...just because you've seen them play more doesn't mean that they are better overall players than everyone in that category from the east...I am also not saying that some of the west players aren't better than these ones from the east that i put down...i'm just trying to mix in some other names than everyone else has been throwing out there

Greicar is a pretty good SS, but Leer is definetly the best SS in the state.  I would put Lagein as the top SS from the east and Greicar at a close 2nd.

Saucesauer...When did i ever say andy leer was a bad shortstop, or not one of the best?  As I said before, i am throwing some names in from the east just so that the best at each position doesn't all say players from the west for the most part...I am not arguing that Leer is a very good shortstop so stop trying to make it seem like I am...If it will make you happy i'll say his is the most solid shortstop in the state

I have a question for you...how many people on this site put Andy Leer as best in the state that put there pick for each position?  The answer would be none on that one so stop trying to attack me for making my picks

The picks that i made were for this summer...not next years high school teams...But Greicar has been sidelined this season with a knee injury...so my next best shortstop for this summer would be Ryne Hornecker

GRANT SCHMIDT of WF either needs to be the first baseman or the dh with dh being more viable with  Elgie being ahead of him but only barely.

Schmidt can flat out hit.  He's one of those hitters who never gets fooled, hits the ball hard almost every time up.  I think he is 3 or 4 homeruns away from the WF single season record.  He has killed us since he was 12 years old!
