Christine Miller scored 24 points and Rose White Tail made 5 free throws in the last 32 seconds on Saturday as New Town beat Bowman County 46-42 in the third-place game at the North Dakota state Class B girls basketball tournament.

Miller's driving layup with 1:40 to play broke a 38-38 tie and gave the Eagles the lead for good. Shayna Taft had a free throw and White Tail went 5-for-6 the rest of the way.

Miller was 10-for-17 from the field and grabbed 8 rebounds. She was New Town's only player in double figures.

Bowman Co. was nowhere near 7 for 7 from the line, they missed alot of free throws that could've helped them at the end.

Actually, they were 7 of 7 from the line.  I just watched it on tivo because I missed it last night.  I think they should have challenged New Town more in the paint and I think they WOULD have gotten more free throw opportunities.   But good job New Town - I think defensively, they took BC out of their game a little and they seemed tentative at times.

Yeah, they did struggle from the line against Bottineau - only game they did, though.  Good shooters

Christine Miller kept New Town in the game. Bowman just couldnt shake them early because of Millers play. Then Taft came up big with three pointers twice in huge situations.
