Minnewaukan-Leeds 63, Steele-Dawson 50; Kindred 44, Midway-Minto 42

MINOT, N.D. - Dawn Teigen and Bobbi Grann scored 14 points each on Friday to lead Minnewaukan-Leeds to a 63-50 win over Steele-Dawson in the consolation round of the North Dakota state Class B girls basketball tournament.

Grann had four rebounds and seven assists for the Lions (25-2), who play Kindred in Saturday's fifth-place game.

Kindred (24-3) defeated Midway-Minto 44-42 in Friday's second consolation game. The Vikings led by 15 points after one quarter but had to fight off the Mustangs at the end.

Steele-Dawson (23-3) plays Midway-Minto (22-6) on Saturday for seventh place.

The Pirates led Minnewaukan-Leeds 18-10 after one quarter, but they were outscored 20-8 in the second quarter and the Lions stretched the lead to 12 points by the end of the third quarter.

The Lions shot 54% from the field and made 7 of 9 free throw attempts. They turned the ball over 22 times.

Steele-Dawson got 13 points and 7 rebounds from Paige Fredrickson. The Pirates had 27 turnovers and shot 44% from the field. They made 11 of 21 free throws.

Kindred also made use of its free throws, scoring 18 points at the line. That helped the Vikings overcome its 26 percent shooting from the field.

Mandi Bindas was 7-for-10 from the free throw line and finished with a team-high 13 points for Kindred. Lauren Glasow had 12 rebounds and 6 points.

Kristina Schuster led Midway-Minto with 16 points and 14 rebounds. She made all 6 of her free throws.

Betsy Dickson had 11 points and 7 rebounds for the Mustangs.
