How many L-M fans are there at the game?  Roads are closed here, so I wonder if the fans got over to Minot before the storm hit.  That may make a big difference for the girls.

On tv it doesn't look like either of the teams have a lot of fans.  It could be that it is just the first game of the tourney but I am sure the weather is a factor.

Yeah, it looks like the weather has kept a few people away.  I'm not sure from the TV angles.

I think with how poorly M-L has shot, they should feel pretty happy with that score.  They look pretty tentative, but if they can open things up and get some shots to fall, I think it should be a fun 2nd half to watch.  I'm impressed with Bowman's ball movement, but still they haven't got a lot of points to show.  I think 2nd chance points would be big for them - they aren't getting 2nd shots.

M-L needs to settle down.  They are playing good D but the offense is terrible.  It looks like the case of the state jitters but they need to overcome them soon otherwise they will be playing in the afternoon for the rest of the tourney.

M-L looks like they are forcing some bad shots and committing bad fouls.  They look a little fatigued, they need to get the momentum back.

Looks like they got a good run going now.

Final

ML had a good look for a tie at the buzzer.  Well my bracket is busted right off the bat.  ML played better in than 4th quarter after they settled down.  I would not be suprised if they rebounded and took 5th.

Even though the score was 44-41, the better team definitely won the ball game. M-L did a pretty good job pressuring the ball, but fundamental-wise, Bowman is definitely a better ball club.  Better body control, passed the ball better, boxed out really well, and those are the things that will give them a shot to win tomorrow.  Bowman definitely had the best two players on the floor too, in Abby Nasset and Brittany Anderson.

I thought Bowman played a very good game - patient on offense and in their pressbreaker.  Mwkn/Leeds didn't show the state their true capabilities.  They shot the ball terrible and were lucky their steady defense kept them in the game.  Could have been a much different game if more of those layups went in and they actually shot half decent from the line.

They had a lot of tournovers too.  Bowman played a very good game but alot of those tournovers were not caused by Bowman but instead by ML.  They overthrew people in the post which cut down on the amont of shots they took.  They did not shoot well at all which may have been because of Bowmans D.  They did not play like the team I saw during the year.

Bowman County 44, Minnewaukan-Leeds 41
Associated Press
MINOT, N.D. - Brittany Anderson had 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead Bowman County to a 44-41 win over Minnewaukan-Leeds in the first round of the North Dakota state Class B girls basketball tournament on Thursday.

Anderson was perfect from the free throw line for the Bulldogs (24-1), who ran their winning streak to 21 games and moved into Friday's semifinals where they will play either Steele-Dawson or Bottineau.

Bowman County fought off Minnewaukan-Leeds' comeback bid by making 15 of 18 free throws. Minnewaukan-Leeds (24-2) was 2-for-8 from the line.

The Bulldogs led 18-12 at the half, but they couldn't shake the Lions.

"I just knew I had to come out and go after it and try to get something down. Our whole team did a good job of that," Bowman County's Abby Nasset said. Nasset had nine points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists.

Anderson was 9-for-9 from the line and had Bowman County's only 3-pointer.

Dawn Teigen had 13 points and Jordan Callahan added 12 points for the Lions.

"We didn't have the greatest first half. We always said we're a second-half team, but it didn't work out for us today," said Hope Keller, who led the Lions with 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Bowman will play in the semifinals for the first time since 1992.

Again, I still think the best team won.  There was a vast difference between fundamental skills on the offensive end between the two teams. Yes, ML shot poorly, but more than that...you watch bowman's guards.  Jump stop, jab step, ball fake---ML it was just run to the basket at 1000 mph, plus their guards got away with alot of missed travel calls in the first half.  I think they were lucky to have played within 3 points.
