I can't believe that Tioga is still on the poll after their loss.  I know that they lost to a pretty good New Town team in overtime but anybody who saw them play in the Fab 14 tournament knows they aren't deserving of the 10 spot at all.  Apart from Abby Bratlien their team is extremely shaky.  I wouldn't call any one of their girls basketball players. Without Bratlien that team would be lucky to win 5 games.

Hoopster Tourney: 12/8/2006

Kindred 62, Tioga  45

Kindred - 16 36 49 62

Tioga ---  16 23 27 45

Looks like Tioga is not even in the same league with some of the other top 10 teams?

give tioga some time to come together as a team and they will for sure be a very very compatetive team at tournament time. and think they should be still be the favorite to win region 8 despite there loss to new town in region 8 play.

I agree with you.  I watched them play and the only way they are going to beat you is if she scores 40 points a game.  No one else on their team can score other than her.

How do you win with one good player?

I really don't know who they have, but I know they've beaten Mohall Lansford Sherwood who is a pretty respected program.  I have been waiting for someone to mention them.  Another team that could play interestingly in the already interesting Region 2.

They have an Erickson girl who averaged 20(+-)ppg last year back. I think she is the coaches daughter.

Interesting that Kindred is at #4 and Minnewaukan-Leeds is tied for 10th even after M-L handily beat Kindred in Bismarck last weekend.  Head-to-head seems to be a good indicator of who the better team is.  Any media out there notice that?

as is the case early in the year with returning players from a state tournament, i'd guess that kindred's state tournament apperance last year is driving their media votes

i look at bottineau last year for boys...they were ranked no. 1 in the state because of nearly winning a state title, but i think that team was so hot and cold that, on the right night they played like a no. 1 team, but on a cold night they probably weren't even a region-qualifying team.

Yeah, I've been biting my tongue about that one.  That was the best I've seen ML play against a Kindred team that demolished Tioga the night before.  Oh well, its still early in the year, teams still getting back into the flow.

In regard to Fordville-Lankin-Park River, they also have have the Ralston sisters who both are good basketball players. They are a very scrappy team that does intimidate easily. They are not very big but they are tough. This is their first year co-oping in girls basketball with Park River so I am not sure what type, if any, added strength that brings the team.

Thanks to a couple people for filling me in on names from Fordville-Lankin-Park River.   I did see a partial game of F-L (prior to the co-op) last year, so the names rang a bell once I heard them.  I checked out their roster and see Jenny Heggen's name also - think she came from Park River and I think she was a force in volleyball for them.  So they do look, on paper to have kind of a nice team, and they won again this week to go, I think, to 6-0.  Maybe they will sneak up into the polls.  January will tell as they play MIdway-Minto, Adams-Edmore and Drayton-ST-V.

Can someone please tell me how Steele-Dawson has gone from 3rd, to 7th, to 9th, by losing one game, and that one game was to the #1 team in the state as of now New Salem by 10. I don't see how losing to the #1 team in the state drops u from 3rd to 9th. Maybe if the SD-New Salem game would have been a blow out but it was 10 points i believe and in New Salem.

Minnewaukan Leeds dropped out of the poll and their only loss is to Adams-Edmore by 3 points and ML pretty handily beat Kindred who hasn't moved from 4th.  FL-PR isnt getting much love either. I guess I dont write the poll, but it still makes you wonder.

Midway Minto went a head of S-D in this weeks poll.  The only lose Midway Minto has is to #2 Hatton-Northwood.  I think the lose was by 8.

I have another question about this weeks poll. How is LaMoure even receiving votes? I've seen them play this year and they did not impress me at all.

I know they only have 1 loss but it was a 30 some point beatdown. And Linton isn't even that good. I guess I was just surprised they were up there. Wouldn't surprise me if they lost by 20-30 tonight either.

don't know for sure...meiklejohn is good, but i haven't gotten much of a sense of how good the rest of the team is.

they graduated most of their frontcourt and so i think they have some questions there. my guess would be they don't have anyone to match up with cuypers 1-on-1, but i don't know too many teams that do.
