Grafton played two good quarters. That was impressive.

I guess its no surprise we have Grafton and Casselton in championship game. The tournament is playing pretty much out way most thought. I was wondering if I'M only one seeing this but girls basketball is showing glowing detail between the large schools and smaller school in this state tournament especially this year. Were going to have two of largest class b schools in the state playing for the championship. The only small school in nightly championship round is Wilton/wing and it beat another of smaller class b schools to get in this side of the tournament. I guess I am only one who has problem with this and its why I haven't watched much of tournament just wondering if anyone else feeling this way .

One would expect the largest schools in any class to outperform the smaller schools. Big vs Big is going to be more common than Small vs Small.

If we’re going to lament Grafton vs Central Cass for the title, we have to at least acknowledge that all the private schools got eliminated prior to regional championship night this year on the girls’ side.

The west half of the state was represented by Wilton-Wing, Glenburn, Hettinger-Scranton, and Kenmare. There’s not a Goliath in that bunch.

The best basketball was played in the East this year. (Add Kindred and Thompson to the conversation).

I'll just nuke my comment because I don't think this is the correct thread to discuss a three class system.

It’s so interesting how two people can look at the same information and draw different conclusions. No, I don’t think we need a third class.

But I’ll say this… The east has all the makings of a nice enrollment-based middle class (Devils Lake, Wahpeton, Valley City, Central Cass, Kindred, Grafton and a couple more). There just is no counterpart for it in the west. There’s Watford City (whose girls will play Century for the WDA title today) but there aren’t 6-8 more schools out west of that same size (HS enrollment 250-600).

I thought Carrington did a great job playing against what appeared to be a tired Central Cass team. I really think if they had more kids coming off their bench like CC they could of pulled off the upset. Grafton is going to win the B if Central Cass doesn't get some rest because they were dragging last night. Their defense was lazy and just plain terrible at times.

Picks for Saturday:
1.Grafton
3.Carrington (Would love to see Wilton win this game)
5.Langdon (Going to go against Kenmare again, not sure why)
7.Hettinger

Tired of the media trying to make individual kids a star and calling it their team. This is HS and BB is a team sport. These kids receive recognition through All Region and All State Teams.

Someone tell WDAY that Central Cass DIDN'T play Grafton their first game of the year. It was Grafton's first game of the year. Get your facts straight and stop repeating it over and over.

I ever tell you I hate the News?!?

WOW -- it was Grafton's first game of the year, CC's second. Not really something to go ballistic over.

It bothers me too because they're making a story out of it that isn't true. They also said this game was in January.

Yeah! I don't know what is up WDAY? Central Cass's first game was against Richland, and Grafton's first was Central Cass, the news never gets it right.

You missed "Enrollment based" and picked five west schools at random, none of whom enroll 250 kids in grades 9-12.

No one's going to take my advice, and that's fine. If I were a three class proponent, I would go ahead and craft my best plan based on enrollment, even if not all the private schools landed in that middle class. I picture a few of the private schools 'opting in' to the middle.

Every other three class proposal has failed at the ballot box for 25 years. This has not been tried.

Heimer, I can't get too mad at you. I follow you on the radio and on social media and you've essentially been on the right side of all the major social and political issues of the past year. I dusted off my NDpreps account for old time's sake, but I'll probably go back into hibernation in about two weeks.

What stood out the most to me in this tournament was Demers. She’s only a sophomore but she was the best player in the championship game. For a post, she handles the ball very well & I could easily see her at the next level, probable D1 material. Grafton’s team play was impressive, they moved the ball very well & they weren’t going to be stopped.

Oase is very good also and I can see why she’s a Miss BB candidate.

I also found myself,(& probably many others) rooting like crazy for Wilton Wing. Quam was very fun to watch and she’s as good as advertised.

It won’t shock me if we see the same eastern teams back, but we’ll see what Kindred has to say. The winner of CC/ Kindred will be in the title game next year.

Would we feel any different if Wilton-Wing was named Northern Burleigh??

FYI Wilton is in McLean County. Wing Burliegh. County line is north side of Cenex.

Again, those that are griping about size (B-Oldtimer, others), what's your solution that will leave no one with a legitimate gripe?

A 10-class system so that everyone can play teams of equal enrollment to themselves?

My takes on some of these comments on here and the tournament in general:

1. Love the new look of the MSU dome, it looks like a true basketball facility, if only they could change up the sideline coloring or something, way too many times kids stepped out of bounds.

2. Grafton would have a legitimate shot to be playing semi-final night of the Class A tournament. They are very solid.

3. Central Cass and Kindred will be number 1 and number 2 next year, their meetings will be something special.

4. IMO we will see LEM, WW and Kenmare back. I'm unfamiliar with what regions 2, 3, and 6 have coming back outside of the teams that were at state.

5. There is a need for a 3rd class, but we won't ever see one.

6. Without a 3rd class, the "sweet 16" makes no sense to me.

7. Please don't try to compare the make up of Central Cass and Wilton Wing, they are not the same. WW has 93 total students and Central Cass has 277. You could call Wilton Wing North Bismarck for all I care, they are NOT the same.

8. Very surprised at only 2 unanimous all-tournament team selections. Would love to hear some of the reasoning behind leaving the 3 grafton players and the one central cass player off of some ballots. I can see leaving the HS player off of the ballot because her team placed 8th, but she was definitely one of the top players in the tournament.

I may have missed it on here, but can someone list the All-Tournament team as well as the Class B Coach of the Year and Senior Athlete?
