CC was way underrated IMO. They crushed Richland, who I thought would be a good team, and beat the team I said was the best Class B team of the last 6 years (Grafton).

Velva also beat FWM today 57-45

I’m shocked CC was that low...some ppl must not have respected them much.

Next week’s poll will be interesting cause LEM has a loss to Benson Cty already too...#1-6 all have a loss already

Every team that is currently ranked in the top 10 are legit teams. Saw the CC game today. Grafton trailed the whole game up until the end. I think they will be pushed by a handful of other teams for sure too this year. CC plays physical ball & they really excel against teams who man them up. CC will run into a team that is skilled offensively & plays a defense that doesnt allow one on one match ups. They out physical man to man teams.

Kindred & Langdon are good teams. Four Winds was the surprise to me as I think they will have their hands full in their region as Dunseith, Benson County, & Langdon are all good teams.

The bottom line is this--there are around 15 teams in ND girls basketball that are good enough to give most top 10 teams a competitive game on any given night. I think it will be a fun season & its great to be able to see alot of these games online this year. Hopefully all the teams stay healthy, and we get to tournaments. It will be a real fun post season this year all through the state.

Grafton/CC was a fun game to watch. Grafton is still the team to beat IMO.

CC has to be #1 IMO. This means they'll probably end up like #3 or #4.

New poll is interesting. I was wondering if the voters were going to vote based on end of the year predictions or current play. I think it's a pretty solid mix of both. Biggest surprise to me is that Kindred was still #1.

First real poll and a lot of unknowns...#1 puts a target on your back. CC seems to enjoy the underdog role too

Agree Grafton/CC was a fun game to watch. Both teams do many things really well on the court. Be fun to see this matchup at the end of the season because this one could of gone either way. I think this was Grafton's first game also which makes it more impressive.

If CC beats Kindred in the regular season they will take the spot but I don't blame people for not bumping Kindred for losing by 1 to the State Champs.

I keep looking for the Class C polls but for some reason the state of ND refuses to go to a three class system. Watch the scores this year peeps! Going to see some large margin of victories. Time for the burbs to put Wahpeton, Valley City and some other Class A schools on their schedules and everyone in the state will see.

Does anyone actually think Grafton sees DVE, North Border, FSHP, etc., as their peers?
I'm sure you could make the same example in region 1 too, I'm just not as familiar with those teams.

Do we know how many ballots are sent out each week? Just curious why the increase in voters in a week that very few games happened. Seems odd to me that if people are not voting to see a larger sample size that they increase this week.

Each NDAPSSA member organization gets a vote in the poll...there are 33 possible 'ballots' each week; obviously some weeks are missed by members.

Could the Holidays be a reason why more voted...it's possible. Could it be that there was just a low number in the early polls because of the pandemic situation...it's possible. You usually see between 17 and 24 voters in the Class B polls for Basketball; 12-18 in the Class A Basketball Polls, Volleyball & Football polls.

How many teams do you think could actually win a state title?
I would say Grafton, Central Cass, and Kindred. Maybe Rugby and Langdon too. I do think a team like Linton or Kidder County could pull off an upset, but I don't think they could win 3 games at the state tournament.

There’s more than that. Especially fo those upsets happen in regionals. Those teams are certainly the odds on favorites. Grafton only beat NC by 10 today.

Grafton was up by as many as 20. I do think Grafton has struggled in the early part of the season. Thompson has looked better than I anticipated. Their size will still be an issue when they meet Grafton. I think Midway-Minto can give Thompson a run too.

I think it will be a big deal to get the #1 seed in region 1. The path to the championship game should be a lot easier.

Do you think any team in region 5, 7, or 8 is a real threat?

Monday, January 4th

1. Central Cass (10) 6-0 207
2. Kindred (12) 3-1 204
3. Grafton 3-1 161
4. Carrington 6-0 138
5. Linton-HMB 2-1 127
6. Trenton 4-0 107
7. Thompson 4-0 91
8. Langdon/Edmore/Munich 3-3 37
9. Our Redeemer's 6-0 27
10. Glenburn 4-0 23

Give Northern Cass a 4-0 record and put them in region 5 and they would be ranked in the top 5.
Half the losses in the top 10 belong to one team.

I'll go with Central Cass on all three. I think they could run Kindred into the ground as long as they handle the press. If not they will receive the same fate that Kindred is handing Carrington right now. Carrington does some good things but if you panic against the press your done. (Was Carrington missing some players tonight???) I'm just not all that impressed with Kindred this year. Maybe I've seen too many of their games. Abby in the press is what really puts teams away. The short little ND girls just can't get away from that height & long arms to make a pass. Right now it looks like the Region 1 suburbs are going to win state.

 Maybe I'll cheer for Benson County, or Oakes! :D
