That is funny. Why would anyone care if the region 7 started their games an hour later?

If CC beats Kindred and the rest of the favorites win, does CC get seeded?

Media & Statewide Newspapers are about the only ones that would care and I doubt that they care that much.

2019: Kindred, Rugby, Thompson, Hettinger-Scranton, Langdon/Edmore/Munich, Kidder County, Trenton, Shiloh Christian

Odds seem pretty good we get a repeat of 2019 state tournament in 2020!!

This was my post from November 5th. It was an easier year to predict because so many of the top teams didn't graduate much, if anything.

Below are the region hoopster favorites.
Flip wrote:Girls
1 Kindred
2 Grafton
3 Kidder County
4 Langdon EM
5 Underwood
6 MLS
7 Hettinger Scranton
8 Trenton

State tournament was awesome last year and it has a chance to have a lot more talent this year.
1 - Kindred should be better, they graduated one role player.
2 - Grafton beat Kindred last year and I think they have a chance to be a lot better than last year and they may have been the best team in the state last year.
3 - KC should be better too. Graduated one role player. #1 seed in state tournament
4 - #2 seed in the state tournament didn't graduate anyone. Beat Grafton last year.
5, 6, and 7 - I'm not really sure. HS should probably be improved from last year.
8 - Trenton didn't graduate anyone last year and had an undefeated regular season.

That would be pretty crazy to have the same 8 teams in the tournament this year. Has it ever happened in boys or girls before?

I'll go:

1. Kindred (Theirs to lose)
2. Grafton (Should be a good one)
3. LaMoure (LaMoure is playing best in 3 right now.)
4. Langdon (Theirs to lose)
5. Shiloh
6. Velva (toughest one for me to pick)
7. Hettinger
8. Trenton

I don't think it will be a repeat of 2019. Close though...I'm not really well "versed" on the West.

Region 1: #1 (1) Kindred (22-0) vs. #2 (RV) Central Cass (18-4)
Region 2: #1 (4) Grafton (20-3) vs. #2 (9) Thompson (19-4)
Region 3: D5-1 (8) LaMoure-LM (19-5) vs. D6-1 (5) Kidder County (21-2)
Region 4: D8-1 (2) Langdon/Edmore/Munich (23-0) vs. D7-1 (6) Four Winds-Minnewaukan (20-3)
Region 5: D9-1 (RV) Flasher (19-4) vs. D9-2 Shiloh Christian (16-7)
Region 6: D11-1 Velva (14-10) vs. D11-2 (RV) Rugby (20-3)
Region 7: #1 Beach (17-5) vs. #3 (RV) Hettinger-Scranton (17-6)
Region 8: D15-1 (3) Trenton (23-0) vs. D16-1 Kenmare (19-4)

My Predictions
Kindred by 15
Grafton by 5
LLM by 8
LEM by 10
Flasher by 8
Rugby by 3
Hettinger-Scranton by 6
Trenton by 8

Based on my picks I predict the seeds to be:
1. Langdon/Edmore/Munich
2. Kindred
3. Trenton
4. Grafton
5. LaMoure LM

I don't think the winners of Region 5, 6 or 7 get a seed unless Kenmare wins 8
I could see 1 and 2 being switched.

If the below things happen (and everything else stays the same as I picked):
FWM wins they are the 3 seed
Thompson wins they are the 4 or 5 seed
KC wins they are the 5 seed
CC wins they would be the 5 seed
Kenmare wins they would be unseeded and Rugby would be the 5 seed

Just my opinions

Kindred, Grafton, KC, LAEM, Flasher, Rugby, H-S, and Trenton are my picks. Flasher spoils the repeat of all the same teams from last year. I could also see LLM over KC. Rugby avenges their loss to Velva in the districts. LAEM wins by 25+ though I hope FWM can stay in the game. LAEM just seems to be on another level with their defense and should be the top seed at state.

Kindred- wouldn't mind a CC upset, but doubtful
Grafton
LaMoure LM (this is totally dependent on KC's Rath, she went down with a knee injury, if she's still out it makes it tough for KC)
Langdon
Flasher
Rugby
HS
Trenton

Grafton-Thompson is the most intriguing match up to me on paper. Should be a really good game. I think it comes down to if Thompson gets exploited by Grafton's size or if they find a way to neutralize that advantage. Seems like these have been the two big dogs the last couple years and might be for the next couple. Should be another good game. I will take Grafton by 5 but expect it should be a back and forth affair.

R1: Kindred by 15+
R2: Grafton by 10+
R3: Lamoure by 10+ if Rath plays more if she doesn't
R:4 LAEM Less than 5 would be the one I would go to if I got my pick
R:5 Flasher Less than 5
R6: Rugby Less than 3 Could be the best one of the night
R:7 H/S Tough schedule pays off
R:8 Trenton Return undefeated

I see some picking Thompson over Grafton. I don't see it. Grafton has too much size and too many scorers. Thompson will need Hughes to be great and some other girls to step up. It was mainly just Hughes on Tuesday.

Region 2 needs to find a new venue for their Region Tournament!!! What a joke! Nothing like home field advantage.

If Kindred wins region 1 my guess this is how state tournament would be seated. Kindred would be seated 1; Langdon seated 2; Trenton 3; Grafton 4; and Lamoure seated 5 and Rugby, Hettinger/Scranton, and Shiloh would be drawn for the top 3 seeds. This is how teams finished in final poll and top 3 teams are all undefeated I can't see any other teams being seeded above them . If Kindred wins there will be six returning teams from last year and it could have been seven if Kidder county would have won. This is quite a field of teams all of them have had impressive seasons and I expect very good state tournament should be some real good games in this state tournament and could be surprised by one team getting hot at the state tournament.

I would put Grafton above Trenton, but I won't be surprised if Trenton is #3. Grafton lost to undefeated Kindred and undefeated LEM. Also, lost FWM when their best player was sick.

I'd say seeds are this (IF Kindred wins)
1. Langdon/E/M
2. Kindred
3. Trenton
4. Grafton
5. LaMoure-LM

IF Central Cass wins
1. Langdon/E/M
2. Trenton
3. Grafton
4. LaMoure-LM
5. Central Cass or Rugby

Actually, Region 7 has been an hour off in the past. I don't even know if there is such a mandate for them to start when all the other regions do. If there is such a mandate, there isn't in volleyball.

Late to the conversation... I believe there is no mandate, but that R7 moved start times up by an hour as a courtesy to Beulah and Hazen, at their request. With those communities on central time, it used to approach midnight CST when they were arriving at home after playing the last game of the evening.
