At this time of the year, the computer models paint a pretty good picture of the teams. LEM has to be considered the top team with the schedule that they have played and the quality wins that they have.

One team not getting a lot of press this year (probably because they play way out west) is Hettinger-Scranton. Yes I know they are in the poll, but I would assume not a lot of people have seen them play. They are the real deal.

Grafton/ Four Winds is another good game among state contenders that is cancelled due to the weather. Too bad these can't get made up.

District tournaments starting at week's end are why they cannot be made up.

scc wrote:They've won 16 straight, which is impressive. Their early season loss to Linton-HMB probably led to the very slow ascension in the poll.

I think that loss hurts, because they don't have any notable wins.

I agree that they haven't played any of the eastern teams that are in the top half of the poll, not going to get into the whole east vs. west thing. They've given Bowman (15-3) 2 of their 3 losses, Bowman is 10th in the latest RPI rankings.

I agree that the loss to Linton early in the year stopped them from climbing. As far as the poll goes, I know they couldn't care less. I was just stating that people probably haven't seen them play and they are very, very good.

Trenton continues to impress me more as the year goes on. Their wins over Rugby and Stanley illustrate that they are the favorite to win Region 8. If they do qualify for state, it will be interesting to see where they get seeded.

Rugby looks like a pretty good team, not sure who they've beat that's good. Stanley is 9-10, doesn't seem like that quality of a win. However, from what I've heard, Trenton is very good.

Parshall is their biggest competition in D15 & R8

Trenton's biggest competition isn't just Parshall. I would also say the Kenmare Honkers as well. Kenmare beat Parshall 51-42 back on Dec. 6. And lost to Trenton 43-28 on Jan. 8. Kenmare is currently riding a six game winning streak. I wouldn't take them too lightly. My top 3

1. Trenton
2. Kenmare
3. Parshall

And in Region 6 I think Rugby is the favorite but Velva or Mohall-L-S would make things tough for them. M-L-S lost to Rugby by seven earlier in the season. And lost to Velva by only one.

Big win for Hettinger-Scranton on Friday. We'll see if they move up in the polls because of it.

I feel like out of state wins and losses are basically ignored.

I agree with you. It's too bad though, because there are some good teams in SD, MN and MT that our ND teams play
