I find it hilarious that some teams get ranked so high in the polls until they finally play a VERY good team and get Trounced.... I think MPB should be #1 ..shoulda been after they beat LLM and EKM back to back on a neutral court and away(EKM)....But I don't think it would matter to them what place they are ranked...they are on a mission. The same bunch of girls who lost to LLM in volleyball want redemption to prove they are Athletes that are a force to be reckoned with.

The fact is this is only one of these teams reaches the state tournament. When you have region like this it makes these teams much better because they have much better level of talent to play against. Langdon/Edmore/Munich has played some outside their region playing Thompson, Grafton, Carrington, Kidder county but they have not had to play like these teams from region 3 have been playing. Region 4 is not what it has been in the past if you take the Lakota/Edmore, North Star, Harvey, Rolla, Benson County and Rolette teams from 3 to 4 years ago Langdon/Edmore/Munich would compete with them but I would say they would have hard time reaching final four of the region in those years. That's my opinion and another thing is the strength of this team is still young with Ronnigen, Freije, Sherr , and Crockett all being Sophomores or younger. They are still learning to win on regular basis which is learning curve. But like I stated I think overall girls basketball is down over the state with the exception of Region 3 where you may have at least 3 of the top teams in the state right now. The thing here is only one of these teams will get to state.

I get what you are saying about teams being ranked because they do not play tough competition. However, Langdon did beat Carrington, who took beat MPB without one of their best players playing. I thought the same about Lamoure- they were about 9-1 which looked impressive but they had not played anyone tough except MPB- but then they beat EKM. It is very hard to compare teams until they actually play. Region 3 is going to be interesting because every team plays a different game. MPB has trouble with Carrington but kicks Lamoure, EKM beats Carrington but loses to MPB and Lamoure, any of these four teams has a chance to make it out of the region, and any one of them could get upset by Kidder County.

I have seen Langdon play two times and I don't think they are better than any of the top 5 in region 3, I will leave it at that. Carrington played the worst I have seen a Carrington team play in the past 4 years and still had a chance to win.

Anyone have any insight on Bismarck? Are they as good as their record shows?

I haven't seen them personally, but they beat Four Winds by 6 and Rugby by 1. Other than that, it doesn't look like they have too many challenges on their schedule.

I was surprised to see that their SOS is ranked so high on https://classbbasketball.com/. I just don't see it, but don't have a lot of knowledge of those teams either, I guess.

LaMoure beat Carrington in Carrington by 7 last night. LaMoure should be the #1 seed in the District 5 Tourny. That is big because they only have to beat Carrington or EKM instead of having to go through both of them to win the District. (Though they will definitely see at least one of them again in the Regional Tourny.) The Region 3 Tourny's semi-finals and finals could be 4 really, really good games.

That second night of districts will be a huge game for Carrington and Edgeley.. loser will get MPB or Kidder County first round of regionals. Can’t wait.

The Region 3 tournament will be more entertaining and more competitive than the state tournament. Guaranteed.

So you're saying whoever wins region 3 blows through the state tournament? I'll take the field vs the region 3 winner.

I didn't say that, I just think it will be more competitive all around. There will be some very lopsided games at the state tournament, where as Region 3 games will come down to the wire every single night.

Basketball is probably the most difficult sport to guarantee a winner. I would need a lot of hands to count how many games I've seen the better team shoot 15% or come out a little too confident and lose.

Not sure how it's calculated, but I just can't figure out why Bismarck has such a high SOS. Just don't see it. :?:

Personally I think the first round of the Region 3 Tournament could see a number of blowouts. I see MPB, EKM, LMM, Carrington and KC as being very competitive against each other, but the other 3 teams who make it are going to get beat by double digits in the 1st round. The #3 and #4 seeds from District 6 (whoever they are) cannot match up with LMM, EKM or Carrington and the #4 from District 5 (whoever it may be) will struggle with MPB. I see the only good game in the 1st round as being the #3 from District 5 against the #2 from District 6. The semi-finals, the 3rd place game and the Championship games should all be extremely competitive. Just my opinion.

We've all seen how MPB shows up during tournament time... Kidder Country knocks them off in the district title and they would have a high possibility of losing the first round of regionals.

I was at Carrington vs Four Winds. Carrington won by 20-something but I thought Four Winds looked like a team that could do a little damage if they played under control the whole game. I would not be one bit shocked if they knocked off Langdon in the region championship.

I was thinking the exact same thing until I saw that Langdon stomped them by 37 last night. Didn't see that one coming!
