FCT only going with 4 starters. That's a bold move Cotton, let's see if it pays off.
FCT: Burns, Rittenour, Grefsrud, Kaehler, Viger (at least that's who started against us about mid-season)

I've seen Rugby and North Star play the most out of these teams. What do the other teams have for size?

you know...the majority of predictions here is for Watford city to win it all...I've seen them play twice this year and imho, Watford city is Katie mogen. granted the games I saw were with not very good teams and maybe the lady-wolves didn't put forth full effort but I cant see KM winning state by herself...someone set me straight...

I don't know if it was coaching or what, but PRFL Defense shut down Thompson. No way Carrington gets 40 pts. PRFL gets 40 on a bad shooting night. PRFL over Carrington 48--36. PRFL defense is for real IMHO.

Of course I can predict on my own 2 or 3 for each team with no problem , but harder to look at stats and know who is the 4th and or 5th starter, Thanks in advance
These are not confirmed, but my best guess base on what i saw this year.
Rugby - Shea Heidlebaugh, Ashley Schmaltz, Breanna Thompson, Maddie Uhlenkamp, Lauren Kraft
North Star - Macy Kvillvang, Brenna Logie, Peyton Halverson, Stephanie Miller, Madison Borstad
Watford City - Katie Mogen, Ricki Lindley, Alli Mogen, Lea Arndt, Mackenzie Sparby
Thanks for the responses

Katie Mogen actually has had a bit of a down year you might not expect. Granted she has dealt with injury BUT it hasnt slowed her team down. Her numbers this year are lower than each of her past two years. The development of their 6'1" junior post Sparby is really what has happened here. She is the difference maker.
What makes their first round match up interesting is that they lost to Dickinson Trinity early in the year. Mogen &Lindley were in deep foul trouble in that one from what I heard. Trinity was at full strength too at the time. WC will make the adjustments & be prepared for Trinity. Trinity has the same opportunity too I suppose but I think WC will have a little more incentive the second time around & be hungry to get after Trinity.
WC will get challenged at state for sure as they will finally face teams with equal size to match theirs so all those in-the-paint points they get will be tougher to come by. But I think Mogen will play well simply because its real hard to key on her with Sparby & Lindley on the floor plus their press usually causes headaches...especially the half court trap they run. Plus those three kids for WC...they are pretty good players.

My predictions:
Quarterfinals
Watford City 70 Dickinson Trinity 37
Park River-F-L 52 Carrington 34
North Star 46 Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah 50
Rugby 48 Shiloh Christian 40
Consolation semifinals
Carrington 45 Dickinson Trinity 44 OT
North Star 58 Shiloh Christian 46
Semi-Finals
Watford City 55 Park River-F-L 42
Rugby 37 Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah 44
7th Place
Dickinson Trinity 42 Shiloh Christian 56
5th Place
Carrington 34 North Star 57
3rd Place
Park River-F-L 50 Rugby 48
State B Championship Game
Watford City 60 Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah 52
Watford City Wolves
2016 State Class B Champions
Even though I'm a district 10 & region 5 fan and my team didn't make it this far. I'm picking Watford City I agree with the people who picked them. Their were one of the favorites heading into this season.

They are on tv. They streamed the hockey games so I would think they will stream this tournament too.

What happened to Kennedy Keator from Dickinson Trinity? Wasn't she their best player?

Keator had a knee injury early in the year....not sure if she is on the active roster though.

The girl from Trinity tore her ACL last season...then reinjured it at some point.
I heard this on WDAY during pregame.
Also, did I hear Trinity pretty much handled Watford earlier this year ?

Being a Region 1 fan I'm going with FCT. I know region 1 was down this year but they have the leadership. Kaehler has the size but FCT goes with Rittenour. Other than Nuddell she was best in Region 1 IMO. She controls the floor so well, then throw in Burns defense & their backcourt is tough. If Burns & Grefsrud hit a couple 3's they're hard to beat. Too bad one of these teams has to lose but you gotta win 3 no matter who it is. Guess we'll find out in about 3 hours! Gonna be fun. #PrimeTimeBaby

wow--terrible foul call against Kvilvang on the charge -- slow motion replay showed the defender was never set. Instead of 2 fouls on Kaehler, it's 2 on Kvilvang and they get 6 straight.

Hard charge at the end, no call. Stripes are struggling.

20. A defensive player does not have to be stationary to take a charge…. he or she simply must have established a legal guarding position. The defense can move backward and sideways. Comment: Legal guarding position must be established

Correct. However, lots of times defenders are sliding over to take charges and don't actually have legal guarding position established. They're initiating the contact. On the other side of that, lots of block calls get made when an offensive player is out of control and creates the bulk of the contact. This call is one of the most debated, not only at the high school level. The biggest thing is that the officials have to decide all of these things at real time. No benefit of instant replay. I thought the games were officiated well yesterday.

I thought the first day was pretty intense overall
WC well deserving of their victory, they wanted it, and you could see that...tough playing first round against a team you played in reg season...
PRFL out played the Cards with a balanced Offense (PRFL 10 13 14 14 — 51) and good scrappy D
NS was quicker to the ball and out rebounded FCT....but I dont know if there are many on this site from down there....but watching their coach she was very upset with some calls down the stretch....starting what with what they left as a block by Kvilvang on Keahler .....that was a foul.
kinda turned the game right there IMO...then things didn't get any better and FCT coach was frustrated...
last game of the eve?
Ulmer's passion for winning and Coach Bearstail who shows a coach can sit quietly and let the team go to work which stems from preparation, experience and born attitude....I was impressed

Great summary Winner. I will add:
Watford and PR should be a great matchup. PR is easily the most physical team in the tournament. However, the first round game with Carrington could have had a completely different outcome if Carrington makes their uncontested lay ups. I counted at least 6 missed completely uncontested layups/bunnies.
I thought Fairmount CT vs. North Star was going to be the match up of the night and I was a bit disappointed as I thought North Star was clearly the better team. Could "the call" have changed the outcome? Maybe, but I doubt it.
The only "upset" of the day, wasn't really much of an upset IMO. Shiloh was solid and Coach Bears Tail was a rock. They came to play and after a rough start, showed everyone they belong here. They will have a tough one tonight though.
i think PR, Watford and North Star are the three best teams in Girls B. After watching them play, there is no clear favorite between these three IMO.

Well, since NS beat PR pretty handily on PR's home court, I'd have to say NS would be the favorite, if it comes to a rematch. That's what logic tells me. Of course, they still have to play the game.

I was most impressed by North Star, I predicted Watford City, and they looked good, but North Star looked better IMO.
