Katie Mogen out with a sprained ankle the night before in practice. Turtle Mountain has a nice team with multiple scorers, rebounders, play good man to man. Dionne in the middle blocks a ton of shots. WC has to get ready right away to play Trenton tomorrow!

Thompson came to Grafton last night and won by 30 . Not going to mix words---Thompson total dominance---Physical, Court Awareness, Quick, Unselfish, Quality shots, Never standing still, Defensive prowness, Very balanced 1-10. Could compete very well as a team at the junior college level.

Too bad she was hurt, nice to see them playing some tough competition, I am sure it will ready them for post-season.............I had predicted previously that Watford City would win, but I didnt realize that Turtle Mountain was that good this year, I dont follow A very close.

Okay, now we are going a little overboard by making that statement. I'll give Thompson credit as being a good team, but Grafton did not show up for this game. Grafton wasn't able to establish an inside game nor were they able to hit many 3 pointers. Grafton also showed very little effort in rebounding which eventually made Thompson look that much better. A stronger defensive team should be able to slow the Tommies some.

When you state that Grafton didn't show up, where were they? It was there home court, huge crowd, so there is a mental right there...Grafton wasn't able to establish a inside game because they really haven't got one. They weren't able to hit three pointers because someone actually guarded them. They didn't rebound because they only have one gal to rebound. The rest wait in the wings waiting for an outlet pass. . Oh, by the way, Grafton didn't show up against Park River about a week or so either then. Grafton has stayed the same over the last year while the top teams in the region have been hitting the weights and going to AAu games all summer long...It was like a pinball game--Grafton was the small little ball and Thompson was the machine.

From what ReadyToPlay commented, my take away ISN'T that Thompson is the best team in the state. It is that Grafton isn't very good, if you compare them to top teams. I have not seen Grafton play this year, but I can believe it. To me it seems like Class B girls BB is worse than 9 man football (and 9man football is bad) is the spence that the difference between the best teams and lower teams is so large. When there is a large gap between the top and bottom, a team can consistently beat up on lower teams, and not compete with top teams.

I'm not suggesting Grafton isn't very good. The same girls took Thompson to the wire twice last year. I feel that Thompson play really good and Grafton played really bad. Give them another chance. I think we'll see a different outcome. Let's wait a couple weeks when Thompson plays PRFL before we hand them the Championship Trophy.

ReadyToPlay never suggested that anyone should hand Thompson a trophy, regional or any other. He (guessing Ready is male), also refered to others lifting and doing other things to improve. I took that as including PRFL, who also handled Grafton fairly handily. As far as last season, I can't find a roster for Grafton last year. So, I'm not sure if each team returns the same players. If they do, maybe there is something to what ReadyToPlay had to say regarding the off seasons for the teams.

Maybe Grafton played poorly and Thompson played very well. It used to be very common to play nearly every team on your schedule twice during the regular season. It would be very uncommon to see a team fall by 29 and come back to win the second meeting. Anything can happen in high school athletics though. ;)

North Star beat Four Winds by 23 and lost by 3 the 2nd game so anything is possible. I think the same thing almost happened between Thompson and PRFL last year.

Just going to make a statement and observation, looking at rankings, I think before this weeks games were played,Bishop Ryan could have been ranked(they just got beat by Hazen, 58-51,saturday) but I see they have played 5 of the top 7 teams in the state(but did lose 4 of 5) and still play 3 of the teams receiving votes, nice to see teams play a tough schedule, helps make them improve and get better for post season.........and by the way, getting beat by Hazen is not a big mark against them, Hazen has played inconsistent, but pretty well. Bishop Ryan may not be the team to beat this year, but they will be one of the teams next yr, this is the year , we as observers can see actually how good a coach Ms Stewart is.......i was one of the people who previously said that anyone could have rolled a ball out to the team the last 2 yrs and won, and that may still be true, but she is a really really good coach.

I believe the number 3 and 4 teams will be just switched around as North Star wins over Park River 45-36. Nothing hurt, just a different order...

Looks like North Star should jump 2 spots with the win over Rugby also. PRFL and Thompson went down to the wire with Thompson winning by 4. Great game.
