I figured that much, but was the school where Northern Cass is currently or was it maybe in Hunter, Arthur, etc.

High School was located in Argusville

Dakota High School was Hunter/Arthur and Cass Valley North was Argusville and some of those small towns on I-29. For a while they were co-oped as Dakota/CVN and then all became Northern Cass

That makes sense...the towns on I-29 are Argusville, Gardner & Grandin then...I would guess Harwood may have also filtered in a few students.

Interesting stuff. I had never heard of Dakota School.
When was the first year of Northern Cass?
Did Cass Valley North and Dakota school both close the year before Northern Cass opened?

Wasn't the school called Dakota Arthur?

Another former school and colors was Linton St. Anthony Saints (high school closed in 1966). The colors were red and white.

Yes, that was the most used name. Think they also were called just "Dakota" and I believe "Dakota Cass" at some point as well.

Was black common at all for schools to use before the turn of the century? My knowledge of past school mascots and colors is admittedly limited.

Seems like when a new co-op is formed black is the default color to go to. (That or I'm only thinking of the ones that used black  )

Two examples: Cando (Red/White) and Bisbee/Egeland (Yellow/Green?) became red/black. Harvey (blue/yellow) and Wells County (green and gray/white) became black and blue/yellow.

Wasn't Glen Ullin black and orange?

And I know these aren't Class B, but Dickinson and Williston are Black and Orange, and Mandan is black and white.

Ah yes, Wolford had the yellow. My memory of the area isn't quite what it used to be.

It may have already been mentioned, but I don't have the ambition to look back. What were the colors of Churchs Ferry?

Yes, Wolford was yellow/green. Churchs Ferry is interesting. Used to be maroon/gold back in the day, but when they needed new jerseys at some point it was cheaper to go with blue/white so that was their colors when the school closed. If you go into the old city auditorium, the stage curtains are maroon/gold but in their old gym that was attached to the school and still standing the stage curtains are blue/white.

I'm pretty sure Hillsboro and Wishek were once blue, red and white. Not sure when, but both schools dropped the red. Both schools went white and blue. Hillsboro may have added black.

Anyone recall the Courtenay Cougars colors prior to consolidating with Wimbledon (W-C Warriors)?

Coach Rerick wrote:I don't think Lehr by itself was ever the Badgers. As someone previously mentioned, they were the Lehr Leopards (Black and Orange), very briefly the Lehr-Street Blackhawks (black and yellow was mentioned, I was thinking black and white), then joined Wishek. Wishek Badgers (Blue and White), Ashley Aces (Blue and Gold), Zeeland Vikings (Green and White), Lehr-Wishek Badgers, Wishek-Lehr Badgers, Wishek-Lehr-Zeeland Badgers, Wishek-Lehr-Ashley Badgers, Ashley-Wishek Aces, Wishek-Ashley No-Names, Ashley-Zeeland Aces, now the South Border Mustangs (Blue, Black, White). And, for a real throwback treat, prior to being the Blue and Gold Ashley Aces, they were the black and orange Ashley Lions.

Also from that area:
Kulm Gophers (maroon and white)
Edgeley Rangers (green and gold)
Jud Trojans (green and white)
Dickey Central (can't for the life me remember nickname/colors right now, though)
Hazelton Tigers
Braddock Bobcats
I think Strasburg was home to Emmons Central??
Hague Patriots
I'm sure there are others I can't think of right now.

Dickey Central Cougars (consolidation of Monango Bison and Fullerton Blue Devils)
Strasburg Emmons Central Catholic Knights

I know they were the Wildcats in early '80s. Could have changed after that.

Makes sense. Remember the Wildcat colors? Last thing I'm looking for haha. Working on putting a database together of all of them.

Courtenay Cougars were Orange and Black,
Wimbledon Wildcats were Maroon and Gold.
Wimbledon-Courtenay Warriors were Black and Gold (took one color from each school).

This according to family who lived in the area at the time.
