ndcharlie37 wrote:Hi, I noticed that you still have Minot Model placing 1st & 7th in the 1952 state "B" tourney.
Also you have Bowden in the "C" tourney in 51, 52, & 53(wrong spelling of BOWDON), you have
it spelled correctly for their 1945 appearance.

spelling is fixed...

not sure what you mean about the 1952 listing:
1952: Minot Model, Rugby, Lisbon, Kenmare, Beach, Beulah, Bottineau, Hankinson

I only see Minot Model ONCE.

Btw...you brought this up once before...nothing has changed...Minot Model is still 1st and is never in 7th.

no one has sent me anything regarding that..I make corrections when I get proof that things are wrong.

Where do you see 7th Place and it being Minot Model in 1952?

OK, I get it now regarding 1952 & Minot Model taking 1st & 7th. It depends on which list you look at. The more up-to-date list has the correction with Model as 1st and Bottineau as taking 7th in1952 Charlie

I'm going to assume its not updated in someone's quote of the list...but the main list on the 1st post gets changed every time I get proof of a change being needed.

Does anyone know for sure what the smallest school was to actually WIN the state B championship?
Looking through the list - I would guess it would be one of the following:
Aneta
Elbowoods
Sargeant Central
Newburg

Like I said - those would be my best guesses - but I really have no idea or anyway of finding out the actual school enrollment of those said schools at that time.
Does anyone have any idea for sure? I think it would be an interesting little factoid.
Thanks

I'm not sure it would be possible to find enrollments for those years, but I would guess Aneta.

Definitely not Sargent Central at that time they were a fairly large school. Much smaller now. But even today Milnor is smaller than Sargent Central and Milnor just won a couple years ago. I'm going with Aneta also , but wouldn't bet on it.

Where was Elbowoods? I'm looking on Google maps and all I can find is Elbowoods Bay by New Town.

If you're ever up in the New Town area you can stop at the 3 Tribes Museum and I believe they have some information on the title team from Elbowoods.

Tough to tell going back to the 30s and 40s. In modern era, Newburg and Bisbee-egeland had to have been pretty small at the time they won, probably under 50. I know Leeds had an enrollment of 75, North Star and Milnor 80-90 when they all won it.

1998 SRCGS, Fort Yates....

I can't recall but what did the SRCGS stand for?

Milnor was 65 or 66 in grades 9-12 when they won it. The number (in the 80's) that people used when they were in the tourney was a 7-12 number.

Pretty sure it's Standing Rock Community Grade School.
