litchville-marion-montpelier assistant basketball coach steven cumber died on july 1...sounds like it was a farming accident, pretty sad deal. i didn't know him personally, but all of the coaches in that l-m-m area are pretty good guys.

Mr. Cumber was the head coach a few years ago, then resigned. Lived in Montpelier, very sad, and tragic. Will be missed.

Steve was a classy guy as far as I knew him. He was a nice guy to talk hoops with. He seemed classy in victory as well as defeat. Certainly a tragedy for the community and his family. Our prayers are for strength to go through this tough time.
