i'll suggest mark bakkum from steele-dawson

great basketball player, pretty solid starting pitcher and a good contact/power hitter for baseball...not sure what other position(s) he plays for football, but i know he kicked a game-winning field goal in one of their games this season.

i'm gonna go with landon smith from trinity. all-state football, all-state basketball, and has qualified in 4 events for the state track meet (shot put, discus, 400 relay. and 800 relay). that's an impressive feat.

I'm gonna have to say Matt Anderson from Cavalier all state football and class A player of the year (IMO he was the best football player in the state). Basketball he averaged like 17 ppg and 11 rbpg, and track had his knee scoped after the basketball season and think he might start running again soon.

I would have to say Landon Smith from Trinty handsdown for overall.

Anderson was a great athlete, cant disagree with that pick. I'll throw R.J Darling in from Leeds/Minnewaukan, hes a great quarterback on the football field, and a big threat on the basketball court also.

Good choices all.  I'll throw in a couple more:  Zach Larson Oak Grove: 1st team all-state football two years at two different positions, quarterback & cornerback; 1st team all state basketball.  Dustin Erbes Richland:  Two time all-state football, all-state basketball, multiple state qualifier in track.

didnt voth play football for New England?  Im not 100% sure on that though...  Matt Anderson is a stud, Landon Smith is a stud, those two just jump out at you haha...  you cant forget some of the small town athletes either though....  Tyson Bodvig 2x 1st Team All-State,  Andy Wirt 2x 1st Team All-State, Jon Scherbenski 1st Team All-State (sp) just to name a few area standouts....

I agree on Derek Benter. 6-8 kids with soft hands aren't exactly a dime a dozen in N.D.

haha thanks for that fact. I think Weston Dressler and Brady Trenbeath roomed together at UND they both were the two best players in their division if not state in football.

im just gonna put this one out there cus this guy is vastly underrated. mcale marstuen gets no respect and as far as im concerned might just be the best athlete in williston. he put up 18pts 8boards and 7 assists for the crusaders this year, along with being the quarterback for the inaugral football season and did one heck of a job. he also went 5-0 as a pitcher for a weak trinity baseball team with and era under 1, and he hit over .500 with 3 homers. in my opinion he was the best athlete in region 8

and i played on his baseball team.....and we were defenitly weak. He played almost every position throughout the year. He recorded 20 of the 21 outs during one of the games his junior year jus between strikeouts, picks, and one line drive he caught that he doubled a guy up at second. He also through a perfect game to open his senior year against the Williston high JV and not only was it a perfect game, but he struckout all but ONE batter who flew out to the third basemen. The game only went five innings due to ten run rule though.

One player to keep your eyes and ears open for is Tanner Carpenter from North Border.  He has been playing varsity baseball since 7th grade (starting short-stop first two years, now the teams best pitcher), varsity football started playing in 8th grade(field goals) and was the starting quarterback until he broke his collarbone this year against harvey. (a game that was 7-6 in the fourth quarter when he went down), varsity basketball, all-conference pick as a sophomore and played alot as a freshmen.  His dad is a great coach in football and baseball as well.
That's a lovely fur you're wearing. Perhaps I could find you some slippers made from the skins of innocent and defenseless baby seals!

best athlete in the state without this year has to be luke lorenz.  he is a stud in football, a warrior in basketball, and is the best javelin thrower in region 1
