The top 10 is pretty close to the Hoopster rankings. North Border was 10th in the Hoopster, North Star 14th. Shiloh and Kindred flipped spots. Velva (33), Standing Rock (34) and HCV (36) are the biggest discrepancies as they essentially move up about 20 spots. Westhope Newburg could be a team to keep an eye on as well. No seniors on the roster posted to the high school activities website. Might be a team that's a year away that can surprise some people this year.

Did Shiloh get some new kids in this year. I don't see what they had in JV or coming back for Varsity that would rank them that high?

Usually if the hoopster has them ranked high they end up high in the first poll. That's what a lot of people have to go off of in the media...along with area bias

i thought they had one of the top JV teams in the state last year...or at least the numbers so they could play a lot of Jr/So players

I did hear that they had at least one "transfer in" from Wilton after school started this year

Per my source, they have 6 of their top 8 guys from their main State tournament lineup back. Finished 5th last year starting 6th this year probably isn't a stretch. They usually have a good schedule out of the gate so they will either prove they belong or drop out early.

Watched Shiloh/North Border at scrimmage this past Saturday and Shiloh has 2 bigs that are strong with some solid shooters outside. When NB would collapse they kicked out and shooters didn't miss. I think NB won unofficially, but was a good game and Shiloh looks solid.

I was impressed with Grossman last weekend.

After Watching the Kindred and HCV game last night... . Lots of bad shots and some bad defense. Both Teams will grow as the year goes on and both teams will get better. IF the HCV Big kid slows down on his 3 point attempts and dribbling the ball.... He can get shots at will from within 10 feet... HCV will be tough.

Pretty good early season game to watch, both teams should be in top 10 throughout the season. Brandt and especially Olson dominated the paint all game long.

Very impressed with how Thompson dismantled North Border last night. Jr. Guard had a big night shooting 3's and they were impressive on the offensive and defensive glass. North Border needs to find a way to get StainBrooke more shots - too many from the guards and not enough from their Jamestown commit. Ball needs to flow through him if they are going to be successful. Gym atmosphere was great! Thompson looks to be the team to beat early on in Region 2.

Early on it looks to be Central Cass, Sargent County and Kindred as the teams to beat in Region 1. Still think Richland could surprise some teams and crack the top 4. Early on, don't think OG has the depth to compete this year.

Region 2 looks to have 3 teams that could take home the crown. Thompson, Grafton and Hillsboro. I was surprised on how easily CC beat Thompson in their gym but think as the year goes on, Thompson will be the Region2 champs. Grafton will be a tough match up for them and the size of Hillsboro will give them a chance in every game as well. Much like OG, don't know if North Border has the depth needed to be serious Region 2 contenders.

I think CC is the team to beat in the state right now, I have watched everyone in the top 10 atleast once and they right now look the best. I think OG will be top 4 in R1 by the end of the year, Hattfield is very good, hard to cheer for but he's legit. I also think NB is top 4 in R2, but you might be right about their depth to win 3 in a week.

I watched about half of the Sargent County/ Kidder Co. game yesterday. SC is definitely not a state contender team as of now. Not sure if they had some kids hurt and not playing but their defense was less than stellar especially their press. Lots of season left to improve though.

They trounced L-LM who barely lost to highly-ranked Bowman County
Holiday Break games are always tough cause you could be missing a player or are just lacking some energy. We'll get a better idea when they go to HCV on 1/7/23
