I went with my gut on all my picks, toss ups IMO are R1, R3, R5, & R6. In R2 I think North Border breaks through. R4 & R8 are no brainers. R7 I think Beulah gets back to state. My state title game pick would be Four Winds-Minnewaukan vs Enderlin.

Here are a few games out east I'm excited for tonight:

Sargent County vs. Oak Grove - they played on December 17th and SC won by 11 at home. Will be interesting to see who has improved the most. I think there is a chance that the winner here will push Enderlin in the next round. Should be a really good game. I will take Oak Grove by 5.

Kindred vs. Northern Cass - was a 7 point game the first time they played. I think Kindred actually has a rather difficult road to a region championship having to go through NC, CC, and Enderlin. If NC shoots well from outside I think this might be the best game of the night in region 1. If Kindred plays defense like they are capable they should win by 10+

Grafton vs. MayPort - Grafton won by 15 the first time but I believe MayPort was missing their head coach for whatever that is worth. I think this one comes down to if Grafton shoots well from outside and can neutralize the big guys for MayPort. If they do it will set up a great rematch from the last region game when they play Thompson again. I will take Grafton by 7.

North Border vs. Cavalier - they played the last region game of the season and Cavalier was up most of the game before losing by 6. North Border won by almost 40 early in the season. Rivalry game so the atmosphere should be good and emotions should be high. I'm curious which of the two games is closer to the truth. I'm not convinced Cavalier gets it done but if it is a close game and a slugfest it may hurt North Border in the long run or it doesn't, hard to say! I will take NB by 10.

Easy to say now, but I was asked to make a pick and I picked HCV. If not them I picked North Border to win the region.

Most regions are in their championship games, but here's how I think it'll go the rest of the way:

R1: Kindred (will be rooting for small town Enderlin)
R2: Grafton over HCV
R3: LLM over Ellendale in a nail biter. Wagner still has a big game, but LLM has better overall athletes and defense.
R4: 4 Winds
R5: David over Goliath. Let's go WW. 99% of ND wants to see you beat Bismarck.
R6: Minot Ryan
R7: Hazen
R8: Powers Lake

looks like almost everyone is wrong in Region 2 with Both NB and Thompson going down. I did not see that coming.

I wasn't surprised...I picked Thompson and HCV to make the final but have been saying all year that NB wasn't going to be able to get through the 3 day tourney - and was told again and again I was wrong and depth didn't matter and their only shooting threes wasn't a problem. I also said right away in other boards that Grafton Thompson was going to be a very good, very tight game.

I think "almost everyone" who was wrong and surprised were from those fan bases or outside the region. Everyone I know that followed the region all year were not shocked.
