My predictions for Region 3 Tournament
Quarterfinals
Ellendale over NGS
Kidder County over EKM (this could go the other way, but I think whoever wins this will make it to the championship game)
S-Z over LLM
Oakes over LHMB

Semifinals
Kidder County over Ellendale (I have trouble picking against Ellendale, because they seem to be a different team at regionals. However, Kidder County is a better all-around team)
Strasburg-Zeeland over Oakes (Strasburg-Zeeland has too many weapons and plays solid defense)

Championship: Strasburg-Zeeland over Kidder County (Will be close, but Strasburg-Zeeland has owned the fourth quarter in both of their meetings this year, and that will be the difference).

I think 5 teams have a legitimate shot at the Region 3 title, but Strasburg-Zeeland is playing really well right now, and should be one of the favorites. EKM, KC, Ellendale and Oakes have been inconsistent, but if any one of them can put together a couple of good games, who knows. LHMB, LLM and NGS don’t bring enough to the table to pose a threat (watch one of them pull off a first-round upset). Could be completely off, but should be an enjoyable tournament, nonetheless.

In Region 5 Shiloh Christian is the favorite but not by much. Flasher & Underwood are not far behind. The Bulldogs gave the Skyhawks a good game in the District 9 title game. I say the winner of Flasher/Underwood will play Shiloh for the region title. Unless New Salem upsets the Skyhawks in the Semi-Finals.

I don't care how much a team is the favorite in any region. You can get knocked off on any given night. Just look at the #1 ranked team in girls basketball everyone including myself had them making it to state. So as much as I want my school to represent Region 5 I will let the chips fall will they may.

R1- Enderlin - I think they survive a brutal Region 1 tournament with the likes of Kindred, Richland, etc.
R2- Hatton-Northwood - I give them a slight edge over HCV & Thompson. SPOILER ALERT: Grafton could play spoiler as well.
R3- Strasburg-Zeeland - I just think it's between Strasburg & Edgeley-K-M.
R4- Four Winds-Minnewaukan - I could see St. John upsetting them in the championship game.
R5- ? Shiloh, Flasher or Underwood - Shiloh hasn't played well as of late. I read in the paper that if it wasn't for there best player hitting all 14 of his free throws Flasher would have beat them. So who can play well for three nights. (tough to call)
R6- Rugby - The Panthers will be too much even for Our Redeemer's.
R7- Beulah - I see Trinity as the only threat to the Miners. Maybe Hazen, (Beulah beat them twice), but as far as I'm concerned these two stand out over the rest IMO.
R8- North Shore-Plaza - would like to see them in the B..

Nothing against the teams that go every year, but I like to see new teams every year. It makes watching the B a lot better.

My Region 1 and 2 Predictions for 1st Night of the Region Tournament:

G6: #1 Kindred (16-4) vs. #8 Maple Valley (12-9)
G7: #4 Central Cass (14-7) vs. #5 Oak Grove (10-11)
G8: #2 Enderlin (18-2) vs. #7 Tri-State (12-9)
G9: #3 Richland (15-5) vs. #6 Northern Cass (14-7)

Richland vs. Northern Cass is a really interesting matchup to me. Richland won by 8 at Northern Cass late in the season. Should be an interesting one but I expect Richland to come out on top.

G6: #1 Hatton-Northwood (19-2) vs. #9 Griggs County Central (9-13)
G7: #4 North Border (16-5) vs. #5 Cavalier (14-8)
G8: #2 Hillsboro-Central Valley (17-4) vs. #10 Drayton/Valley-Edinburg (7-15)
G9: #3 Thompson (15-6) vs. #6 Grafton (16-6)

Two will be good game and two won't be competitive. North Border vs. Cavalier is the most interesting matchup of the night. It is very very hard to beat a team three times in one season. Both of North Border's wins were by 3 points. Should be a really close and tough fought game but I will take North Border and its ability to use its bench (Cavalier is pretty shallow - doesn't use much of a bench).

With games later today, here are my predictions of who could come out of each region

R1 - Kindred, Enderlin, Richland - Size matters, but so does speed I think Kindred gets it done
R2 - HCV, Hatton-Northwood, Thompson - I think Henningsgard is the difference
R3 - Ellendale, Edgely-K-M, Strasburg - Ellendale plays good ball down the stretch
R4 - New Rockford, Four Winds-Minnewaukan, L-E-M - Upset pick, tough to beat a solid team 3 times
R5 -Shiloh, Underwood/Flasher, NSA - I don't think Shiloh is good enough, but tough to pick against them
R6 - Rugby - Rugby wins all games by 25+
R7 - Dickinson Trinity, Beulah, Bowman County - Hazen could be in the mix, but i think Trinity gets it done
R8 - New Town, Powers Lake, North Shore-Plaza - New towns guards get it done

Region 2: Hatton-Northwood...HCV virtually tied with them in my mind but not to HN
Region 3: Ellendale...EKM and Strasburg in a toss up region that I see Ellendale finding a way to win
Region 4: Four Winds...St. John, LEM, NR-S anything could happen in a one off game but think Four Winds uses depth to win
Region 5: Shiloh...Flasher, Underwood (and maybe Washburn), Shiloh comes out of another toss up
Region 6: Rugby...Just Rugby (I think this is the closest thing to a lock but you never know...)
Region 7: Beulah...Trinity is the other one in what should be a two horse race
Region 8: New Town...Powers Lake, North Shore-P comes down to who has the best streak of good shooting in the tournament

Michael Dunn not playing tonight, out with the flu. We only play about 6 or 7 anyways so we'll be down a man and an all district player at least for tonight. I think its the 4th year in a row that we've played DP in round and they've always given us a tough game.

LEM vs FWM will be a battle in semis as will the other semifinal.
