Amazing game. To me, Richland was much more talented. Powers Lake played together and had a good gameplan. Give credit to Richland for driving and getting in transition when they had to.

Loved that game from Powers Lake. They got two good looks at the end, but it just didn't go their way. Hope they can get going to tomorrow's game, their crowd will help.

I love Richland's style as well. Even when their shots aren't falling like they were in the first half they're able to hang around with their defense and offensive rebounding. I'm looking forward to seeing their plan against Shiloh and Young inside.

I agree, this was a fun game to watch, I thought Powers Lake outplayed Richland, Richland just hit 1 more shot. Overall a very good game. Powers Lake played a solid team game while RIchland relied heavily on their athleticism. Richland/Shiloh could be a very good game tomorrow night.

Totally agree about Richland defense. I liked the mid-game adjustment to go to man midway through the second, it really changed the flow of that game. It was just a fun game! Kudos to both teams.

If anyone has seen Powers Lake play the past two years--they played this game like any other. No surprise at all they were in the game. Should have probably won the game. Missed a lay up at end there & from my perspective, I thought their transition defense hurt them badly to close out the first half & in the 4th quarter. Half court defense wasn't great--but it really hasn't been as they have been having to score in the 60's and 70's to win against decent teams. They give up plenty perimeter game & if you are not hitting--well, you get a game similar to this. It all worked out though & we got a good game.

Richland shot poorly from the perimeter because they seem to need another basketball to go around as all they do is play one on one--and launch. Point guard is only guy that passes. Richland superior athleticism with the 5 starters--very undisciplined though. That lack of discipline almost cost them. If they are hot though, look out. Could work in their favor.

Lots of open shots in that game. Congrats to Powers Lake & i really like their crowd. Hope they can win the next two. Congrats to Richland on advancing & getting it done. Definitely a better game to watch than that first one.

I don’t think Richland plays any one on one and launch. If you have watched any of their games the past 2 years you would know that is how they play. They have multiple guys who can shoot the outside shot and their game plan is if you are open shoot it. Give credit to power lake it’s not very often Richland will leave their 2/3 they were definitely worried.

I have to say I enjoy listening to Fred Fridley during these games. Hopefully the games this evening are good ones.

I definitely don't mind him, but man he had some of the most captain obvious comments ever today. "Shiloh Christian played better than Beulah today. That's what this time of year is all about." or "If you outscore the other team by double digits in the first quarter, you will win more than you lose." Just got a good laugh out of those comments. But in general, he is fine.

My only complaint is that there are times they go out of their way to make sure they don't say anything negative about a player or a play, but I can handle that when they are broadcasting HS games.

If the bar is to be better than Lynette Johnson, it's a low bar.

Semis feature two valley schools and two privates. Yay. I think every Class B fan was rooting for Powers Lake and New Rockford, both lost close games. Now we root against our nightmare, Minot BR vs Bismarck SC in championship.

Woodchuck, the sad thing is that under the proposed 3-class system, Bishop Ryan and Shiloh would still be in the lower class. I have a friend who says that you should not be Class B if 1) you don't have to leave your city to play in a State Tournament and 2) you have a Burger King in your town. All in fun.

Shiloh would 100% opt up in a 3 class system.

Why didn't they opt up in football? Or didn't they have the chance? Just curious.

With the right 3-class system I think DT, BR, OG & Shiloh would be included in the middle class...ORCS and WTC are very small so I'm not sure there...

I just looked at the draft of what school representatives voted on this year. In that plan, all schools with under 150 high school enrollment were in the lower class. That included ORCS, Trinity Christian, DT, Ryan and Shiloh.

I can't say for sure. But they're not like BR or DT where they have a history of success playing 11 man FB. Maybe they knew they would be moving up and just wanted to take a couple swings in their last couple years of 9 man.

In basketball there is too much evidence they would opt up.

And that's likely why the latest 3 class vote went down...which is why I state the RIGHT 3-Class System those 4 would likely and should be in the middle class (Note: many on site know this but I'm tied into one of those 4 schools)

What about Region 5 Tournament at Bismarck Event Center last year. When I was at Minot State in 1985-86, the State Girls and Boys Tournaments were held at the MSU Dome. There were 2 Region Tournaments (6 and 7) held in Minot that year. I don't know about the Boys, but the R7 girls was at the dome and the R6 girls was at the Auditorium.
