New Salem lost to them by 13 without Young. i could and hope im wrong but i just dont see it happening. New Salem barely got by in the first round of the tourney. luckily Flasher played Horrible in the semis so they could get to the championship. New Salem and Flasher both played the likes of Grant co., Standing Rock and Solen to close to argue against it in my opinion." Unless they got my 3 sons playing for them. they aint touching Shiloh"( Lavar Ball Voice )

Shiloh been dominating this region for years--and years to come. I am sure they already have their reservations for hotels in Minot this year & the parents are already planning their state send off pep rally.
Be nice to see someone pull the upset--and mess up everyone's plans.

Shiloh who i feel is a legit top 5 team would go yes but no one else in the region would be within 25-30 points of them. to where if we took 32 teams i think it would make for stiff competition. Either way im all in favor of change of some sorts!

New Salem & Flasher would beg to differ on this comment

During their regular season matchup (in Bismarck) New Salem was up 31-30 at the half. During the Mandan Holliday tournament Flasher and Shiloh were tied 40-40 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

I agree Bismarck is a heavy favorite here but they will likely have to beat both of them to advance. If Bismarck overlooks one of them or has an off night either of these teams could cause some trouble. That’s why they play the games right.

Is the final day of the Region 5 tournament going to be in a different location? Just noticed it overlaps with the first day of State A.

Henningsgards Burros vs Schwabes Tommies should make for great action championship night!

I personally believe that the Grafton vs Cavalier game could have been the Championship game regardless of anything else.... in the History of Class B how often do you have 6'6", 6"5" matched up with 6'6, 6'7" and the tallest of the 4 is the point guard? along with super quick guards on both teams and probably the most intense rival in the State for years.....Region 2 was as stacked as its ever been 2018-2019 season

good luck to the Tommies and the Burros

Agree w you Winner-within. Except...i prefer ridiculous guard play more then watching trees oftentimes... But as far as when does this size occur historically class b???Rarely although teams to come to mind!!! From region 2!! MPCG Pats! The golden era of b ball if you will saw alot of matchup with 6'6 6'5 vs 6'6 6'7 it is unique for the last 15 20 yrs though height matchup wise.

Cav Grafton was quarterfinal matchup in Region 2 an it was 2 very quality teams playing. Felt more like state semis in region quarters. Both would easily be region faves in a number of other Regions.
Region 2 ship will be as good or better honestly then any state tourney game.

When you say regardless of anything else, you really mean it don't you!

Like regardless of the fact that neither of those two teams actually made it to the championship game and the winner of your fictional "Championship" (Grafton) lost to HCV last night by 14. Granted, for most of the game it was closer than that, but HCV pretty much controlled the whole game and led the whole way.

Also, regardless of the fact that Cavalier was the #6 seed in the tournament and lost to Thompson by over 30 points earlier in the year. Regardless of the fact they also lost to HCV, Grafton and Larimore during the regular season, which would mean they lost to the #1 through #4 seeds.

It was a great game between Grafton and Cavalier on Monday night but it's hard for me to buy that it was the "Championship"

You're right that Region 2 was stacked, but you are doing a great disservice to the #1 and #2 ranked teams in the tournament and the STATE. I would also agree that both Grafton and Cavalier have great players but I think you're over stating it.

To say Region 2 is as stacked as its ever been is flat-out wrong. I have always felt it's usually the best region in the state. Most years, there are four to six teams that could represent the region really well at state. This year is no different. But, there have been better fields in Region 2.

Stacked as its ever been is overstating it, so more accurately its just same old in the region.
Id love to see a region cross mash up after the round of 64. Not sure of the logistics but something does have to cchange imo.
My predictions.
Region 1 Richland by 7
Region 2 HCV by 3
Region 3 Lamoure
Region 4 FW by 4
Region 5 Shiloh by 16
Region 6 Bishop ryan by 15
Region 7 Beulah by 2
Region 8 Powers lake by 5

I'm definitely not a points guy, but if you insist, Cav was up 14-15 on HCV in CV and up by 13 I believe over Grafton in the Betty....scored 25 points in one quarter with their zone and fast break....I would have liked to have seen much more zone into transition all year......Cav had the only 20 game season in the region (rest had 21 22) going into the regional tourn, they had to deal with a young mans suicide 5 days before Christmas and the Langdon game was never played.....it was as an adverse year as it gets for any town or any team, so I'm really not to worried if I hurt someones feelings..........once again
Good Luck! HR OD

couldn't care less Dup....and in the famous words of my Grandma when the priest asked her "how many kids did you have"? she said "seventeen" "Oh my, when the good lord said go forth and multiple, you took him seriously" she said "yep, and theres nothing we can do about it now".....

bottom line, cav still had a game stripped

One more win against a non-region opponent would have put them in....6th. So I guess I'm not sure what the significance of the unplayed game is.

I wasn't saying you were hurting someone's feelings. I said you were doing those other teams a disservice when you disregard actual on-court results.

I was not aware of the suicide you mentioned, must have been difficult time for that group of young men. Hate to see kids go through that.
