I think some of you don't give Stanley enough credit. In the region championship game they played pretty darn good. The radio announcer said they shot 50+ percent from the Arc, and almost 70% from the field. They duplicate that, and they will give anyone a good run.

Two predictions:

1) if Stanley shoots 70% from the field they'll be state champions in a few days.
2) Stanley won't be state champions in a few days.

I would love to see the fw/m and Hillsboro-CV rematch. This time on a neutral court.

stanleys got a decent team...and deserves credit for making the tourney...but lets face it, they were beaten by parshall, De lacs, kenmare and berthold (powers lake doesnt count since hansen was out) and struggled against dunseith and watford city. Now. having said that, stanleys not my team but I am a region 8 fan and will be pulling for them and if they shoot as well as they did in the regionals, they indeed can match up well with other teams. also, stanleys fairly young with their hot-shot hansen being a junior i think... (?)...they'll be back next year because most other region 8 teams will be rebuilding...

Interesting picks but, I can't see Four Winds losing 2 straight games and finishing in 4th place. Your pick to win it all will be tough but possible. As a Region 6 fan, I have watched Ryan play several times this year and they are a very good team. They are a strong and accurate 3pt shooting team. Ryan has multiple players who can hit the 3 in any spot or situation and a very good point guard in Stewart (sp?). If they are hitting on all cylinders, they have a chance at the title.

Dickinson Trinity didn't look like a #2 seed in this one. Ellendale looked real good....for a quarter. Game was pretty ugly offensively in the 2nd half. Congrats to Ellendale for finding a way & what an ending to the game!

G1: #2 (3) Dickinson Trinity (22-2) vs. Ellendale (20-5) = Trinity will dominate this one
G2: #3 (5) Hillsboro-Central Valley (21-3) vs. Turtle Lake-Mercer-McClusky (17-7) = HCV wins easily
G3: #1 (1) Four Winds-Minnewaukan (23-1) vs. Stanley (19-6) = Stanley doesn't play D...4 Winds scores it up
G4: #4 (8) Oak Grove (19-4) vs. #5 (10) Bishop Ryan (23-2) = Ryan plays D...Ryan in a close game

Friday, March 17th
G5: Turtle Lake vs. Ellendale - Ellendale 1-3-1 will cause problems....Ellendale in a grinder
G6: Stanley vs Oak Grove = No defense in this one...shoot out...Oak Grove in a high scoring game
G7: Dickinson Trinity vs. Hillsboro-Central Valley = Trinity too much for Hillsboro
G8: Four Winds vs. Bishop Ryan = Bishop Ryan prevails...playing in Minot helps them & tested in a tough region

Saturday, March 18th
7th Place: Stanley vs. Turtle Lake - Turtle Lake will try harder...they win a typical B game
5th Place: Oak Grove vs. Ellendale - Oak Grove is better offensively...Oak Grove
3rd Place: Hillsboro vs. 4 Winds - 4 Winds plays loose and wins handily
Championship: Bishop Ryan vs Dickinson Trinity - Trinity has the coaching...close game DT wins

If this championship games happens get ready for the poorest attended state championship game and least watched on tv, maybe that's what we need for the 3 class system to happen. Also Ryan has a very good coach.

Good fundamental Bball with these 2 teams....was surprised to see ellendale jump out to a good lead but then DT's
D kicked in hard and ellendale froze
Now it's a chess match

Every time I see Trinity play in the State B I get the feeling they are playing not to lose instead of playing to win. Not sure why, but I always get that feeling watching them. That Wertz kid from Ellendale does a lot of the little things and deserved the player of the game. Question - How many people's State B brackets just got busted?
