Top 5 players in each region

Postby The Schwab » Thu Jan 26, 2017 3:51 pm

Region 1 and 2 get a lot of talk on here. How bout some other regions? Who are the top 5 players in each region throughout the state?

I will give you six from Region 4: Steve Redfox, hunter Sand, Tronis McKay, Jayden Komrosky, Kyler McGillis and Jack Schaefer. Don't know which player I would cut from the list so I will keep it at six.

Trying to throw a bone to District 8, because it's a little District 7 heavy. I will say McGillis and Schaefer are best shooters in region.

cmplx6, how close is Austin Smith from breaking your top five. I have heard he is a great athlete.

You could switch him out with Beau Skurdal. He is a great athlete. One of the fastest kids in the state. Great Football Player, Great Basketball Player, Great Track kid. In football you put him on any of the teams that finished in the top 8 in the state and they would be right there with the state champion this year. Same with basketball. And track he is already the best in the state.

I did watch Williston trinity play Tioga this year. I wasn't impressed with Smith or Skurdal. I could tell Smith is athletic but he made poor decisions and missed quite a few wide open layups. Perhaps they both just had a bad game, which can happen to the very best players. But I don't think I would put either in the top 5 of the region based on what I saw.

I saw them play in Ray to, and it was not a great game, but it was also a game after beating North Shore in OT, and also a game against Tioga which is a tough one to get amped for at 11 am. Smith did have a 53 point game in Burke County, and 40 in the second half with the team down by 12 at half. So I think you can argue both Beau and Smith in top 5. My 5 would be.

1. Simpson
2. Hunter Rodin
3. Austin Smith
4. Terennce Steele
5. Wyatt Hanson
just missing - Beau Skurdal, DJ Lebeau, Hart Andes, Kayden Hanson, Jacob Rodin
