W-L and Richland play best defense in region 1 of the teams I've seen. Northern Cass and Oak Grove don't play good defense, but they don't care. They want to create tempo, and in doin so are willing to give up some easy buckets. (We give you 2, but we will counter with 3's seems to be the plan. Tough to argue with the success of these 2 teams)
Kindred plays ok D, but they don't rebound there D boards very well.
Hankinson doesn't play play good D, but have been able to keep the points down somewhat due to C. Mauch altering a ton of shots.
Have'nt seen M-NS.
CC plays good D, but they have to with not much O.
Maple Valley plays tough D, and will be a tough out in the1st round of region.

As far as coaches.... I don't think I would have M/NS's coach up for region's coach of the year. No question he has done a pretty good job with all the rigmarole that goes into new co-ops. I think they have a lot of talent, so a good record isn't a surprise. If I were going to narrow my guess down to 2 teams, I would have to go with W/L and Richland. Both teams are playing not only well, but better than most people, who aren't homers, thought that they would.

Richland coach has my vote right now...they seem to have turned a corner after their loss to Oak Grove.

Both teams/coaches are pretty solid, I believe that they play eachother last game of the season so if both can keep winning that may be an interesting matchup. Don't count out Maple Valley tho either I know there struggling now but they were in most of the games they played an almost beat NC and Hankenson. My mind I may put W/L coach ahead because I don't know much about Richland. Is it the same coach at Richland as the past years?

I enjoy the KMAV site. But, what is the formula that Craig uses for SOS?

There are a number of things to consider when thinking of SOS. DT has the highest SOS on the list. No question that they have played a good schedule. SOS isn't something that I believe you can put a lot into. What would DT's SOS look like if their schedule was flipped? Who'll do they be more or less of a team if it was? The 6 teams they have left on their schedule have a combined record of 35-60. We all like to watch competitive games, but you can only play the teams put before you on your schedule.

I think the SOS rankings have some validity. Central Cass (5-11 of this date) has only played one team this year with a losing record, and played most other teams competitively. They have 4 games left in their regular season schedule, three of them with losing records to date.

CC is a very dangerous team, probably the best 5-11 team in the state hands down.

There are 3 teams in the state currently 5-11 (Central Cass, Underwood and Enderlin) so yes Central Cass is probably the best 5-11 team in the state.

Well of course, I ment that CC is better then a 5-11 record, they are better then most 9-6 teams

Who you guys got Tonight? IMO
Oak Grove @ Northern Cass= OG i dont think NC is the team everyone thinks they are.
Milnor-North Sargent @ Hankinson= Milnor/NS jake hanson has a big game today
Central Cass @ Sargent Central= CC because SC is not ready yet, couple years they will be better
Kindred @ Enderlin= Kindred to good of defense for Enderlin
Richland @ Maple Valley= Richland, they are on hot streak
Tri-State @ Lisbon= This one im interested in, i think Tri-State might have figured things out after beating MV

Northern Cass by a couple - could get in the 80's.

Hankinson at the wire. Both Mauch's are gonna have a big night and I'm sure Jake H will get his points also. Last second shot wins it.

CC

Kindred by 15.

Lisbon in a nailbiter.

MV stuns Richland behind Hunter Smiths huge night. He's very good now, but next year he might be the best player in the Region.

Hankinson doesnt list their stats but i would be schocked if either Mauch had more than 15 last night, M-NS had 4 in double figures Hanson with 20 on 8-11 shooting nothing outside of 15 ft, Nelson with 14, Sakry with 13, and Asche with 13. If and its a big iIF.... M-NS plays defense like they did last night they might be one of the toughest out in the tournement. Their d as as good as Ive seen this year. Not sure they clan play like that all the time.

WAN; I was at MNS-Hankinson game. MNS shouldn't get there hopes up defensively based on Hankinson game. The Pirates are probably the worst team in the region against a zone defense. They try and jam it inside at the cost of turning it over. This team is one of the disappointments in region 1 right now.

I agree but as far as game planning and following through it was a good game for them. More so if you look they only have Enderlin left and have one of the higher ppg averages and the lower apg averages. Im not sold totally on their defense but maybe numbers dont lie.

If Hankenson is the biggest disappointment what team is the greatest surprise?
