Is the award based on how the athlete performs this season alone or their career as a whole?

I saw Niewsma vs Sadowsky head to head and Niewsma was far and away the better player. Would also throw Hunter Pinke out there.

Judging a player on seeing him play one time on the road playing a position he wasnt used to playing seems to be a little bit of an unfair assessment to me

That's fair. I'll restate. I don't think there are 4 better senior players in the state any class than Brody Niewsma.

If we're talking just about what they've accomplished during their senior seasons I would agree with you that it would be tough to name 4 better seniors than Brody. If we take careers into consideration it would be an easier task. FYI my opinion on Brody is that he is one of the best players in the state

Feeney and Nieuwsma are fairly similar. I think Feeney will win the award going away.

For a Class B kid to have a shot to win the award his team would have to qualify for state IMO

I like Entzi's game, but I highly doubt he'll be up for it. Unfortunately he didn't win District SoY so I just don't see it being possible. I would throw Nieuwsma in. I have no idea who is going win, but probably a Class A pla

Per NDAPSSA:
Mr. Basketball is awarded annually to the state's top high school senior. Voting is currently conducted on a 5-3-1 points system by the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association, in which voters list their top three choices. The original selection process, in use through the mid-1990s, allowed for each voter to choose one player.

In 32 seasons of the award, there have been 33 Mr. Basketball recipients (19 Class A; 14 Class B) and 171 Mr. Basketball finalists (88 Class A; 83 Class B).

2016
Recipient Team Class

Love the kid, but Lund wasnt even the best player on his team, and what a true team they were, I loved watching Minot play.

Congrats to Jason, very well deserved. I think it's a little bit embarrassing that the announcer can't get all the Mr. BBALL kids names right. A likely 2 time first team all state kid drives 5 hours to get his name mispronounced?

Congrats To Jason. This young man can play ball. Would like to mention that among all the other things he's done, went 25 for 25 in free throw contest earlier in the year during Ramsey tournament. He's a pure shooter and true baller. Congrats young man. Well deserving.

Very interesting....Jason Feather wasn't even mentioned on this page as a strong contender for Mr. Basketball. I love it when the underdog ends up on top! So fun to watch!
