Did OG hit 2 free throws with .6 left to win by one? Or, was it tied at the time of the foul? I always route for a kid making two to win by one at the end. Unless of coarse the team I happen to be cheering for is up when the foul is called ;)

I do watch enough ball that often I don't have a team I am really routing for.

OG had 3 point lead late in game...MV converted a 3-point play...Oak Grove had 2 shots at the rim before the center was fouled on the rebound with .6 left in game. Missed the first, made the 2nd.

I know this is college....but this is crazy!

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: N.D. team finishes game with 2 players, loses 156-154 in 2OT

BOTTINEAU, N.D. -- A North Dakota junior college basketball team finished a game Wednesday night with only two players, losing 156-154 in overtime.

United Tribes of Bismarck traveled to Bottineau with just five players for a game against Dakota College Bottineau and three of them fouled out, according to the Bottineau Courant.

United Tribes played the entire first overtime 4-on-5, but managed to send it to a second overtime. The game was tied 123-123 at the end of regulation and 138-138 after the first overtime.

United Tribes led the game 149-144 with 2:10 to go in the second overtime when it went down 3-on-5. It led 151-149 with 57 seconds left when it went down to 2-on-5. Dakota College Bottineau rallied in the final minute for the win.

One of the remaining two players for United Tribes had four fouls. If he fouled out, Tribes wouldn't have been able to in-bound the ball. The other remaining player had three fouls.

The statistics of the game were mind-boggling.

Bottineau launched 142 shots -- 48 of them for 3s -- in a 50-minute game. Tribes had 97 field goal attempts.

J.J. Morris had 51 points for Bottineau, while Augustine Mathias led United Tribes with 48.

That's crazy!! What's awesome is that it went to a 2nd OT while it was 4 on 5 the whole first one. Man, I bet those last two guys were exhausted.

That is ridiculous! I would love to hear from someone who was at the game, because that doesn't even sound like basketball to me, it sounds more like a pick-up game at the park. Did anyone even try and play "D"?

and it's games like this that led to the running clock rule. The Girls forum talks about "idiot coaches who run up the score". No similar complaints to be seen in the Boys' section, though.

Should've been in this case...heard Beach subbed out all main players to start 4th quarter...and New Town brought some starters back into the game. Top player scored 41 in the game; 11 in the 4th quarter...in a game won by 65!

New Town scored 101 two nights later against mandaree and 78 the next night against killdeer 4 points scored in the 4th quarter.

I didn't see the beach game but in the last two the coach played his bench. One of the subs fouled out in the 3rd against Killdeer so yes one of the starters had to play the 4th in that one as they only dress 10 players idk maybe that's what happened in the beach game

Not sure...don't have the scorebook in my email anymore to double check that. I just know that a reliable source that was in attendance stated that starters went back in to start 4th quarter when Beach had subbed out their starters...BUT without the scorebook I can't confirm any foul outs and such.

Spot on. We have the running clock (Mercy Rule) due to a small group of coaches who "are building their program" by beating teams by 50 or more and playing starters deep into those games. I am not in favor of the mercy rule, but I am betting it is here to stay. Hopefully the NDHSAA will tweak it a bit, but I don't see it going away.

Teams, fans, etc. need to deal with losses. If some team drops you by 50 points because they played their starters deep into the 4th quarter. Deal with it. Why should you care so much? Everyone wants something to complain about.

I personally don't care, the point of my post was that those blowout losses are the reason the NDHSAA voted in the Mercy Rule. But the part about some coaches is a valid point, imo. I have been on both sides of blowouts and neither side is a lot of fun.
