I think Regions 1 , 2 , 3 will be super competitive with the outcome completely unknown.......Region 4 with the best team, but not a compete shoo-in.......Region 5 is all Shiloh, no one else really competitve........Region 6, Our Redeemers, but Ryan, Rugby could be competitive against them......Region 7, Dickinson Trinity and Hettinger-Scranton fighting for it, with Beulah having a shot too........Region 8, Parshall, but don't completely count out Kenmare

Sorry, in earlier post, I said #5 Linton, and meant #7. Great game last night between Linton-HMB and EKM. Went to the wire. EKM now has two losses by one point to two ranked teams. Tell me again why they are not getting votes in the poll.

They are probably deserving of votes in the poll, but it could be because they don't have that "signature" win yet.

I do think they might get some recognition this week if a few RV teams lose...that's a lot of team in the 'Others Receiving Votes' list...10 to be exact!

They have to play Ellendale and Strasburg-Zeeland yet, as well as district games against Carrington and LaMoure/L-M (who I don’t think they have beaten in quite awhile), so I guess we will see what they are made of in the stretch run. Ellendale has to play EKM, Linton and Strasburg-Zeeland, yet, so if they get through that gauntlet unscathed (which I don’t think they will), they will definitely prove their worth. Regardless, Region 3 Tournament is going to be a battle all the way through.

I agree with you, the Region 3 tournament will have some very good games.

I agree I see region 1 the same way. CC beat M-NS. Enderlin beat NC. M-NS beat Enderlin in a tournament have to play them again. CC plays NC next Monday. We could go into the tournament with 4 teams with only a couple of losses and one of them playing just to get in. Top three get in automatically. As for EKM I agree they need a signature win. I don't see anyone in top ten that doesn't belong, yet. Lots can change. I still struggle to see M-NS higher than 8 or 9 at this point and that where I believe they drop to in the polls next week.

I'm absolutely astounded that Edgeley Kulm Montpelier is still not getting any votes. I'm not a big poll guy but they are 12 and 2 with 1 point losses to #4 Ellendale (Stutsman Countty Tourney) and #8 Linton HMB on the road. They have a rematch with Ellendale tonight in Edgeley pitting the 2 remaining undefeated teams in District 5. I expect a packed house and a great game between 2 competitive and well coached teams.

I expect that many of the "lower than expected ratings" are because of generally weak schedules. I'm sure Ellendale's undefeated record would seem to imply a no. 1 rating, but the schedule is much weaker than those above them. EKM, while having a good W-L record, has no quality wins and a weak schedule. Again, ratings mean nothing.

yes, its funny how that goes.....I would relate it to my earlier comment that there is big time balance this year in boys Class B....they'll get their recognition come tourney time....

let us know how the game goes that will be a good one!!

Will do. I'm not sure if many outside of the District/Region have made the connection but Edgeley Kulm and Ellendale co-op for football, so there is a lot of familiarity among the players. I think this has served to only deepen the competitiveness between these two basketball teams. Really good group of kids. Going to be a fun night.

EKM knocks off undefeated Ellendale 67 to 55.

There's that signature win.

Can someone please explain Region 7? Hettinger-Scranton expected to take it to start the year. Then, Trinity beats them and everyone looks at Trinity. Beulah knocks off Trinity and sits atop the standings. Is that kid from Hettinger still hurt and are there any other notable injuries? Who you guys think will win the region?

Region 7 is ALWAYS a dogfight...in the end I think Trinity & Beulah will decide who goes to State!

Losses for those teams:

Dickinson Trinity : Shiloh, Our Reedemers, Oak Grove, Beulah (3 of the 4 are ranked/receiving votes)
Beulah: Four Winds, Our Reedemers (Both are ranked)
Hettinger-Scranton: Linton HMB, Strasburg Zeeland, Harding County, Trinity, Beulah (All 5 are ranked/receiving votes)

Trinity has beaten Four Winds and Linton HMB, Hettinger Scranton has beaten Shiloh and Beulah has beaten both Trinity and Hettinger-Scranton.

All 3 of these teams will be battle tested when tournament time comes around, any one of the 3 IMO could represent region 7 at state.

The Region 7 tournament is always a very interesting tournament. If everything plays out according to seeds you would see semi final matchups of Beulah/Heart River or New England and Hettinger-Scranton/Trinity. Anyone who makes it to the Finals will have earned the right to play for a state berth. I don't believe the champ from this region will get seeded at state (but you never know).

Can someone who has seen Beulah play add some info here? The only game I saw Beulah was against ORCS, and they got completely trounced. Yet they beat Dickinson Trinity and H-S.

They seemed to have a tough time with ORCS's height, but that didn't stop them from beating Dickinson Trinity. Can someone shed any light on that?

Thanks!

Same. Saw them play ORCS. Didn't look real good against them. That's why I can't believe they beat Trinity.

PRFL lost by 3 to HCV. I listened to the game and didn't hear Jordan Johnsons name all night. One of PRFL's best 3 point shooters. Don't know why he wasn't playing but I think the outcome might have been different if he was playing. Sounded like PRFL had way too many turnovers, but still stayed in the game.

Johnson was not feeling well and tried to give it a go, but it didn't work out (I think he only made it 2 minutes or less). He definitely would have made a difference minimizing turnovers and adding more points. At the same time, HCV is very aggressive and it certainly would have been a competitive game, nonetheless. These two teams have a good chance to meet up again, at some point, and if both are healthy, I don't know who I'd give the edge to.

The Region 2 tournament is going to be excellent. There are at least 5 teams who could win it.

This poll could use a little cleaning up. Four teams with 4 or more losses getting votes? Even 3 losses is definitely a little high to still be in the actual top ten. They don't mean much...and this is probably one of the reasons why.

You also have to take into account who they have lost to. LHMB, HS, and DT all have had extremely tough schedules versus some teams who haven't really played anyone and only have 1-2 losses.
