Perhaps if they had "got out of there" after they were done distributing, this misconception would not have occurred. Since they did not "get out of there" it was perceived by many the way it was perceived, including to non natives.
I don't believe the National Guardsmen did it on purpose, but it did make one wonder, and when you wear that uniform you are representing the entire organization.

I find sad is that so many still want to dismiss peoples concerns on a matter like this as pettiness. I saw one commentator in the comments section beneath the article even blame it on the possibility that it was because FW players were disrespectful of the flag or folks in the FW section were disrespectful of the Civic Center Officials.
Unless they've lived through racism or this new type of "subtle" racism, most people will never understand, and I don't believe that it can even be imagined. I am glad the National Guard felt it important enough to be clarified.
