So the kid is probably actually 6'4", 190lbs, and hasn't played since elementary school. That's the way rumors in the summer seem to go.

If that's true about the new kid, NE goes from being a top 5-10 ranked team, to a possible favorite. They were already going to be really good. I could be wrong, but I don't think they lost anyone from their team last season.

Not much action on here for a while, anyone want to put together a "September" power 25 poll?

I'll give the top 10 a shot...

1. FW-M/North Star
2. Oak Grove
3. Rugby
4. Linton
5. Cavalier
6. Dickinson Trinity
7. Shiloh
8. Beulah
9. Central Cass
10. Lamoure LM

HM...Williston Trinity (they will be much higher if the transfers have occurred as previously mentioned), St. John, Minot Ryan, Our Redeemers, Heart River, Oakes, New England, Lisbon, Ellendale, many others....

My uneducated guess for how the postseason will turn out. Things will change once Football's over and the season really gets going.
Region winners-
Region 1: Oak Grove. Maybe Central Cass could give them a run for their money but I see Oak Grove taking it again. Also can't forget about Oakes. Usually put together a decent squad every year.
Region 2: Cavalier. Definitely worth watching Hatton/Northwood. But my money's on the Tornadoes.
Region 3: Toss up between Lamoure and Linton-HMB. Both great teams. Both powerful programs. Both have talented squads that work together. I have no clue which of these would win.
Region 4: Again a toss up. Both North Star and Four Winds/Minnewauken are talented teams with many All-State caliber players. For the past two years, the region championship here has come down to a single shot in overtime to win. Both very even teams. This will make for a very cool rivalry in the future when it has grown.
Region 5: Shiloh Christian. A powerful program, but is in a very weak region. May not be tested until State, where I don't see them going far. It'll be 5th or 6th at best.
Region 6: Rugby. NO DOUBT. The fantastic senior trio is back and with ending the season so close to winning it all, they'll be out hungrier than ever. Three-peat region champs. But one can not forget about sleeper programs like Our Redeemer's and Berthold. They'll likely fill the void left by DL-B team.
Region 7: Tough Region. Best guess would be Dickinson Trinity or New England. Most people seem to have them both in they're top tens, and from what I now as a sports reporter, they'll be very good and will likely take down most challengers that come their way.
Region 8: New Town. A powerful squad that demonstrated their skills and why the deserved to be in the 2014 state tourney. A small possibility is a FW/M vs. NS situation with Trinity Christian, but seems very unlikely. New Town is my favorite from Region 8.

Now for my Top 10. Keep in mind that this is not the most accurate, but I based it off of seniors graduated from last year, last year's record and the other top 10s of other people and a bit of guy feeling.

2. Oak Grove

10. Central Cass

Run is right. Oakes is not in region 1. They will be pretty good this year, but I would expect them to drop down significantly after this season for 4/5 years. They have a very good young group coming up. They do not "usually" put together a decent squad though. They have not had 500 team since before 2005. Their overall record has been 54-124 since the 2005-2006 season. I could only find scores for 16 of their games in 06-07.

When did Oakes switch to Region 3? This is the first I'm hearing of it? Could someone send me a link to the website? And I was pretty sure Oakes had a decent year last year. Didn't they get to the region semifinals? I know that's not super great, but it's better than losing in the first round.

Oakes actually made the region 1 finals last year before falling to the eventual state champs. They will be very good this year as they did not lose a lot from last years squad. Great coach in Brandon Bata as well, he just hasn't had a ton of talent until the last couple of years. Hard at a dominant wrestling school. In my opinion, they make a lot more sense geographically in Region 3. They instantly make D5 and R3 tougher this year.

Also, I'm fairly removed from regions 1 & 3, so please pardon my ignorance for now anyways.
But to answer mighty-mouse's question, I know the district 11 tourney will be essentially be Rugby winning every game they play with ease. Not so sure about district 12, but I've Our Redeemer's has a good squad coming up. They might present a challenge, but not quite as much as DL-B last year.

Ok, then. Well, Oak Grove will win Region 1, with probably no challengers. I'd almost go as far as saying it'll be another Region 6, but Central Cass might, MIGHT, make an upset. But Oak Grove will likely win the region by a EDIT.

CC has their top three scoring leaders back from last year so I can see them challenging OG in district 2.

New England is gonna be the dark horse this year they are tall, athletic, and have a deep bench. Return all of their starters and added 2 more good players. Gonna be hard to stop.

I agree that they could be a tough team to deal with and have a lot of talent but, I could also see them not making out of their own region.

Who are some of the teams that you think could contend with NE from region 7?
