I agree with what you have up,but imo turnovers should not be in there to miscue the total.The ball is always in their hands. Imo guards are always going to have more turnovers.I have watched several games in the edc where certain guards are giving amazing passes and players are not ready for it and the ball is lost.That t.o. goes on the guards stats, but your list is strong. What do you think on all state?

1st team: Farroh, Roehrich,Golus,Nygaard, and Burck. 2nd Team: Buck, Peterson,(because they are seniors),Pederson,Dehne,Johnson

1st Team: Buck, Golus, Burck, Farroh, and Roehrich
2nd Team: Petersen, Nygaard, Pedersen, Herauf, Holland, Elshaug

Century and FS will have two.

I agree with your picks. I would be happy to see Petersen (Century) and Buck switch spots tho.

Alyssa Dehne needs to be on one of these teams otherwise it is a joke. She is by far the best pg in the EDC. I don't get to see WDA games so i don't know about the pg's out there. With that being said she needs to be on 2nd team at least.

I didn't put Nygaard or Herauf on here, only because their teams do not win. I would have no problem with either of them making it. I would like to see a Red River girl on here as well.

No she is still playing the point. I just dont consider her a true pg. that may sound crazy but my reasoning is most pg's dont have plays set up for them yet she does. Dehne on the other hand gets majority of her points by creating them off the dribble and things of that nature. Siri is a better player but i would easily take Dehne over any other pg excluding Siri. I'm sure this makes no sense but i really dont know how to explain it i guess... If you put Dehne on a team like south then maybe it would make sense. Hopefully you can make sense of some of this

Do I have this right? You feel that Dehne is the best true point guard in the sense that she sets up other players on her team and does so while not having plays run for her, much like Jason Kidd? Where Burck would be more like a Chris Paul or Deron Williams, having more plays run for her to score?

Great comparisons (especially since I am a Williams fan)! Regardless of any comparison, I unfortunately initially overlooked Dehne, and completely agree that she should be up there on any list.

Yes you are spot on in your comparison. I just think that Dehne is a better true point but Burck is the better all around player.

It is not really fair, just how I would do it. I have not seen Red River play, but it seems that if they are the best in the state, someone must be really good. I would not mind Herauf or Nygaard on the list. I would probably take them both over Pedersen of Mandan, but I have not seen either play so I would be going just on numbers. This is a year I would like to see 6 or 7 on the second team all state list, because I feel someone very deserving will be left off.

I think that is a good point. The only reason I left her off is because I didn't see her play but I have seen the players from the West. In order to make an accurate comparison, we will have to wait for the state tournament and unfortunately, the players who don't make it to state probably won't make the team.

BUT: Great Players will lead their teams to state.

I dont think that Holland or Elshaug are having an All-State Season. I could see herauf or Nygaard on there in that spot. I think your first team is spot on but Buck and Peterson are probably interchangable.

That's a good point. Many of the players listed are on good teams because they are the reason their teams are good.

Assists per game remains a terrific indicator of how "true" a point guard is, and if one looks at the EDC Website stats leaders you can look at all the guards.

Although Dehne deserves recognition, Burck is the best point guard in the state. The traditional "true" point guard position at the top of the key, and basically calling and executing the plays is quickly becoming outdated. A top team ideally wants 5 scoring threats, and would love the defense to be worried about the player bringing up the ball. South sets up plays for Burck because once the defense is worried about her, it opens things up for the other players. Also, with her size, she can execute plays from anywhere on the court not just the top of the key.

The only All-State candidate that showed up for the Century-Dickinson game in the WDA was Herauf from Dickinson. Outstanding player...no court attitude, and no whining.

I agree, I would take Peterson and Buck off my list because of their court attitude. Herauf easily replaced both of them!

What kind of an attitude do those 2 players have? Some players wear their emotions on their sleaves! Doesn't mean their attitude stinks! JMO! I have seen century play once this year and all I seen was 2 players wanting to win a ball game. I think Buck might not be in the all state selection only because she missed 5 game this season due to an injury.

I appreciate a player who gives it their all to win, along with their emotions. I'm talking about the obnoxius rude behavior that Buck and Peterson displayed to their coaches and teammates.

When do they annouce the West All Region teams?? Why not at WDA?

EDC doesn't have an all-tournament team. I am not 100% sure, as it seems to change every year, but I believe 2 years ago the coaches voted after the WDA tournament, but last year they voted before. It just seems that it takes awhile for the media to get the results.
