North played against Turtle Mountain(Belcourt) on Saturday. I was at the game. North played well defensively against TM, but TM missed some shots. They kept the game fairly close throughout. The guard(Dehne) struggled with her shooting. The center hit a couple of nice shots. TM had too many weapons and too much speed. TM won 66-49.

CHS state champs

From what I saw last weekend of Century against South, that Century does not have enough skill at the ball handling to handle the press without Jossart, so I can see how WDA teams will pressure Century.(17 turnovers the first half) Century will not be state champs if this injury to Jossart is season ending (possible ACL)

i agree. Jossart was the only ball handler on the team...its sad to see such an amazing player and nice person go down her senior year

north only lost 3 players last year and 2 of those 3 players sat on the bench most of the season. they did very well against minot on the defense of end from what i heard. they have improved quite a bit since last year and they could be very impressive this year. they have many returning, extremely expierenced players.

How good does South look? I have seen some box scores and this team looks extremely difficult to beat on paper. I saw last game Fisher went for 23, with 6 threes. Roehrich had 17. Burck with 11 points, 10 assists, 4 rebounds, and 7 steals. Can this trio get a state title this year?

Its hard to say...Those three dont get much help and they had a really hard time guarding a big girl. Their press gets get them points and saves them from having to guard a big post. The dont have anyone else to bring the ball up besides Burck. If she gets in foul trouble they will struggle. If someone matches up with those three and can break the press, they can win. I dont think south will go undefeated this season and will need at least one more person to step up to win it. Last night Felch stepped up, hopefully she does that consistently.

Minot High knocked off Bismarck High 64-46 last night in Bismarck... Bismarck only scored 19 points in the second half, looked like a turnover fest from the boxscore (63 combined by the two teams)...

i've been hearing things...let me know if there is any truth to these.

1. jossart did in fact tear her ACL but they found a brace that can support her and she will finish the season waiting to have surgery till after season???

2. Madi Buck also hurt a knee and is out for 4-6 weeks??

let me know if you have any facts

I'd be surprised if Jossart waited to have surgery because after basketball is soccer. She was a first team all-stater last year in soccer.

The news highlight last night showed Madi Buck in dress clothes on the bench and said she'd be out a while with a knee injury. They didn't say what but my guess would be either a sprain or meniscus if its only temporary.

with century having won 10 in a row, it seems they must have other ball handlers. poor century had to endure this same silliness last time this happened too, and went on to have a great season.

Their weakness is ball handling and outside shooting. Their strenght is getting the second and third shots because of the post. If they run into a team from the east who has a good guard and post player, they may not make it to the championship. The west teams really do not have a team that has both a dominate post and guard.

I agree that their weakness is still ball handling. They have been able to beat a lot of teams in the WDA basically with their height by passing their way through zone presses and getting offensive rebounds. They are looking good right now though, and deserves to be #1 in the state, but a team could have a shot at them if they can make them put the ball on the floor.
