Mandan - St Marys

Postby bruins44 » Sun Feb 17, 2008 1:02 pm

Does anyone know what happened in the Mandan St Marys game... St Marys was ahead at Halftime! How could that happen between the best and worst team in the WDA, and only win by 14? any answers?

I don't know for sure, but Amundson usually plays his JV against someone so he can pick up an extra nonconference game. It is usually Belcourt, but SM is worse than Belcourt this year. Not sure if that is what happened, but I assumed so when I saw the score.

Well that doesnt look like Mandan's JV. Mandan got outrebounded and they were 4-20 from the 3 point line. That is a lot of 3 pointers...anyone at the game and have the story??

Me. Mandan came out hot, then Loomis hit some shots and that brought Saint Mary's back into the game. It was pretty much 10-0, then 10-10. Mandan missed some shots and Jensen got in foul trouble. In the second half Mandan was pretty much up by around 10 for most of it, just a low scoring game.

Me too!

Actually, there were a lot more people there than I thought there was going to be. It was parent night for the girls I think. I didn't make it to the JV games, I heard they introduced the parents after JV.

Anyway....I'm chalking that game up to a "let down" game. The big win over BHS with an "easy" St. Mary's on the horizon. I think the girls forgot they had to come out and play, not just show up!

Ali and Paige were in foul trouble most of the game. No one really got things "going". Seemed like all the girls were pretty cold from the field. The press wasn't as effective as usual. I attribute that to Mandan being a little off and SM making some plays. Mandan didn't seem to get as many steals and fastbreak scores as usual.

Hats off to SM though! They fought as best they could. Mandan is just too talented for them this year.

All in all....not a pretty win, but a win none the less. Can't wait for the tourney! It's gonna be real exciting for the girls and boys sides. Lots of good teams out there this year.....no real front runners IMO.

Good luck to all the teams! (especially Mandan  )
