I think the predictions are accurate. The tournament looks like it will follow the standings pretty closely but there always seems to be a surprise (or three: Fargo North, 2011 State champs!) so I wanted to think about possible upsets along the way.

I think Davies has a chance against Century. Crazy I know because I think Century is a top three team in the state but Davies is a match-up problem for any team. Davies has incredible size and will not be outrebounded by anybody. Century in the meantime does not shoot particularly well for a top-ranked team (34.6%) and from the games I have seen thrives on getting offensive rebounds which I don't think they will get against Davies. Davies does not have good guard play, and Century will be able to force turnovers and should be favored, but just a thought.

I also think BHS could give West Fargo a run. Very similar teams and Bismarck has the potential game changer in Rust. West Fargo, however, has a different player step up seemingly every game. But mostly WF has got to this point by bothering other teams with their deep athleticism and it doesn't seem like BHS has a problem with that.

West Fargo has to get through Minot first. West Fargo hasn't faced a west team yet, the West is known for their defence (including Minot High). Also, West Fargo lost to RR by 20 in the regular season. Minot beat RR by 10.
Just my 2 cents.

I agree that Minot will give WF a pretty tough 1st round game, and I actually expect an upset and see Rust and Johnson squaring off in the semi-finals. Johnson had an off game against Century in the WDA which sent them to State as the 4th seed, but they can be tough.

Nobody is giving Mandan a chance . They have the best guard in the state, and talented 3's and 4's plus 6-2 in the middle. Plus a deep bench. I would say they have a good chance of beating Shanley. Battled Century everytime they played. So don't count out the Braves. Senior leadership can make a world of difference. Go Braves !!!

Can anyone tell me if Class A girls games are going to be televised. I'm currently deployed overseas. My daughter plays for Mandan. Or at least on the radio or maybe over the web. Would greatly appreciate it. Also thanks to you all that posted the scores over this past year. Nice to follow . Again thanks.

Having one of the best players in the state won't hurt at all and should give Minot a fighting chance. West Fargo will press all game long and all five Majettes will have to work together to break it each and every possession. If they can do that consistently and not turn the ball over along with be able to get into their offensive sets early enough and not waste the shot clock then they will be able to win. Also: Minot cannot sit back in a zone as I have seen them do this season. West Fargo shoots 40% as a team from beyond the arc! They have 4-5 players who not only have a shooting touch but also are very adept at finding the holes in the 2-3.

I think you planned out a great game plan that would be effective for all the teams. I will still go with Minot and Bismarck in the semi-final along with Century and Shanley.

Why is this not advertised a little better by the tournament organizers or SOMEBODY? I have known about it for a few years but if you are new to the tournament you find out later. It is especially nice for the West teams to be able to tell their fans back home who cannot make it to the tournament. The first year my daughter played I found out about it after the fact. It would have been nice to inform grandparents and family out of state about it.

My suggestion is that each team is notified of this and they contact their local paper and high school and advertise that way. I know there were people in GF that did not know about it until it was too late (like on Thursday after they got done playing.)

My other suggestion for tournament organizers is to post signs that indicate where the 4 teams are supposed to sit each night. Especially when it comes down to the championship games. Signs that say Century Fans, West Fargo Fans, WF students, Century students, etc. Maybe there is no where to post this??

I thought the way the Dome was set up this year was GREAT! It felt a lot more cozy than other years. Good job to the tournament organizers on that.

I would guess that tournament coordinators wouldn't want to encourage fans to stay home. The Class A tournament already lags in fan attendance compared to Class B expecially after the 1st day.
